‘Thanks for Giving’ Food Drive: Bring in Donations by end of day Thursday (11/10)

Donations have been coming in all this week – and we are extremely grateful. And, if you are planning to purchase your donation items over the weekend, thank you in advance! The need in our community is always great and we learned that the Milford Public Schools contributions equate to approximately a third of all food items collected by the Scouting community each year.  Let’s continue the tradition!!

To donate, simply send in your items with your student – there’s a collection box located in your child’s school.  To get an idea of the types of items that are recommended, please take a look at the FLYER with more details.

“Fall Back, Spring Ahead” – Turn Your Clocks Back 1 Hour this weekend clock icon

It’s that time of year that we return to Eastern Standard Time, so remember the classic phrase “Fall Back, Spring Ahead!”  On Saturday night before you go to sleep, take a moment to turn your clocks BACK one hour.

The traditional Veterans Day Parade in Milford will take place this Sunday (11/6) and we encourage all of our MPS community members to join together as we honor those who served our country.  Parade step off is slated for 2:00 p.m., the familiar route will wind around through our beautiful downtown area.  For those arriving a little early, enjoy the patriotic tunes of the Milford Concert Band (on the Green).  Hope to see you all there.

And, on Friday (11/11), you are welcome to attend the Wreath-Laying Ceremony that will take place in the parkette in front of City Hall. The ceremony will begin at 10:45 a.m.

The MAC (Milford Arts Council) is super excited to announce the return of last year’s favorite NEW holiday tradition: the Buoy Tree at Lisman Landing!  This show-stopper gained a lot of foot traffic and photo-taking last year – and we believe this year it will attract even more.  Everyone and anyone can participate; buoys must first be purchased online ($35 per family/individual, $75 per business sponsor). Once you’ve made your purchase, you may pick up the buoy (starting today) at the MAC. Additional information and details are available on the MAC website. Click here for the flyer.

Election Day Details: Prepare for Nov. 8th

Election Day is almost here (Tuesday, Nov. 8th)!  In order to be ready, you may want to take a look at the VERY informative Milford Registrars of Voters webpage. Where are you supposed to vote? Who’s running? What offices are up for election this time around? The answers to ANY election-related matter can be found there.

Enjoy this beautiful weekend ahead, friends. See you next week!
