Open House ‘Season’ Continues:  Lots of ‘em next week

Judging from the four Open Houses held last night, our return to this time-honored event is a ‘home run.’  Open House gives you a chance to see your child’s learning environment ‘up close and personal.’  Plus – the school staffers and administrators are able to showcase all that is good about their school! There will be NINE Open Houses in the coming week – please make sure you check your school’s communications for additional details.  Enjoy!

Pumpkin Delight’s Groundbreaking Event “Terrific”

Speaking of Open Houses, our friends at Pumpkin Delight – along with a cadre of elected officials and special guests – held their official Groundbreaking Ceremony last night, just before the school’s Open House.  Nearly 200 people attended this special event, marking the beginning of a massive renovation project at the school.  Principal Sherrod McNeill welcomed attendees to the event with an extra-special treat in the form of students leading the Pledge, followed by their jazzy version of My Country ‘Tis of Thee.  The event concluded with a ceremonial ‘first dig’ including special guests, with a second ‘dig’ done by PDS students.  The project will include the construction of a new multi-purpose/gym/cafeteria space and a new entrance to the building.  Additional areas to be refurbished include a newly outfitted STEM classroom, the relocation of the former media center, and reconfigured parking.  A new outdoor enclosed courtyard will also be a part of the project. Here are a few pics of the event.

Early Info for Our ‘Leaf Peepers’

Believe it or not, we’ve already been hearing folks talking about ‘leaf peeper’ season!  A leaf peeper is someone who loves to view the spectacular fall foliage – whether that means taking a walk around the neighborhood, scheduling a hike in the woods, or going on a weekend road trip.  Looks like we have a few more weeks to go:  peak color is estimated to be between October 3th and November 8th.  To get an idea of when and where the peak viewing season will hit our area, CLICK HERE for DEEP’s Interactive Foliage Report.
