Hello MPS Community Members,

Our most magical Milford weekend is poised to launch this evening:  the Annual Milford Oyster Festival!  For most of us, the Oyster Fest is also a signal that the new school year is right around the corner as we celebrate all that is wonderful about our ‘Small City with a Big Heart.’  See below for some additional details about the Fest – and some other great tidbits of info you will find helpful as we approach 8/31!  Read on….

Milford Oyster Festival: Friday, 8/19 from 6:00 – 10:00 p.m.; Saturday, 8/20 from 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Enjoy this wonderful event that has long been an annual destination of hundreds of thousands of friends over the years. Here are a few tips to keep in mind this weekend and for much more – visit the official website HERE.

Tonight (Friday) is considered a ‘soft opening’ to the big event on Saturday.  Lots to do tonight – stroll along downtown, stop in for a bite or a drink at any of the establishments along the way.  Head over to Fowler Field for live music and lots of food, craft beer & wine, and of course -- fun.

Tomorrow (Saturday, 8/20): All of the downtown streets will be closed to traffic for the day from the end of the Green (near the G.J. Smith building) all the way over to the Milford Public Library – so keep that in mind when travelling.

Parking:  there will be limited parking around the downtown area, so we suggest you consider taking the FREE SHUTTLE! The shuttle service will run a continuous loop from 9:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.  Feel free to park at Jonathan Law High School –or- the Connecticut Post Mall (rear lot in front of the old Sears building) and hop on the shuttle bus. When you’re ready to go home, hop back on the shuttle downtown to go back to your car. Free!

One more thing – it’s supposed to be HOT tomorrow – so please make sure you drink plenty of water throughout the day. Have fun and be safe!

Parent Portal News

As you know, we conducted a preliminary Parent Portal opening yesterday (Thurs., 8/18) and, so far, hundreds of families have taken advantage of going into the portal early and updating their accounts for the 2022-23 school year. We encourage everyone to go into their accounts over the weekend and review/acknowledge all of the items we routinely require every year (Parent Student Handbook, Emergency Contact Info, AUP, Photo Release, Foodservice documentation).  Then, on Tuesday (8/23) …

Tuesday, Aug. 23rd: Get Your Classroom Teacher Assignments, Bus Routes.  The full Parent Portal will open on Tuesday – that magical day where parents can access their account and find out their child’s classroom teacher assignment and his/her bus route (if eligible).

And in either case, if you have trouble accessing your Parent Portal account, we have implemented a password retrieval system this year.  A nice addition to this process, for sure.  But if you continue to have troubles, you can always call our IT-BIDS office at (203) 783-3446.  The team there is always happy to help!
