January 19, 2022

Dear Parents/Guardians,

We are pleased to announce a new program within the Milford Public Schools that gives all PK-12 students the ability to have a free, weekly COVID-19 test while in school.  This program will begin the week of January 31, 2022 and you will be notified of your school’s assigned testing day soon.  For scheduling purposes, please complete the Participation/Consent Form by as soon as possible so we may plan appropriately. Thanks to our partnership with Project COVID DeteCT and Progressive Diagnostics, here are the highlights of this program:

  • Each school will conduct the weekly COVID-19 testing program on the school’s assigned testing day.

  • There is no charge for the test.

  • Participation is completely voluntary. Parent/guardian permission, however, is required in order for a student to participate.  Click here for the participation/consent form

  • The screening is non-invasive, as the test only requires a swab of the lower nostrils and should take less than 2 minutes.

Progressive Diagnostics will be our testing/diagnostic provider.  Test results will be provided within 24-48 hours to the parent/guardian, the school and CT Department of Public Health.

Regular testing is a safe, effective way to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 and help keep our schools open for in-person learning. Many people with COVID-19, especially children, don’t have symptoms but can still spread the virus, so regular screening of our students will help us find a positive case before it spreads to others.  If you would like to learn more about the Screening Program, please review the Frequently Asked Questions document from Progressive.

We are pleased to be able to offer yet another ‘tool in the toolbox’ as we continue to strengthen the mitigation strategies we already have in place in the Milford Public Schools.  If you would like to have your child included in this free weekly screening program, please click here to complete the online consent form.

If you have any questions, please contact your school directly.  Thank you, as always, for your partnership.
