MILFORD, Conn. – Milford Public Schools is proud to announce that Joseph A. Foran and Jonathan Law High Schools have both been named AP Honor Roll Gold recipients –marking the first time in history that both schools have reached this prestigious level together.
The AP School Honor Roll recognizes high schools that excel in creating a college-ready culture and providing students with clear pathways to post-secondary success. Schools are evaluated in three critical categories, College Culture, College Credit, and College Optimization, with designations ranging from Bronze to Platinum. This year, both Foran and Law achieved an overall Gold designation.
The College Culture category measures a school’s success in making rigorous, college-level coursework accessible to the entire student body. To earn a Gold designation, at least 65% of the graduating class has taken an AP course. Both schools surpassed this goal, demonstrating a district-wide commitment to promote higher-level learning.

Earning a score of 3 or higher on an AP Exam is a major milestone, as many colleges and universities grant direct course credit for these results. This allows students to significantly reduce the cost of their higher education. For the college credit category, Foran earned Platinum, which requires at least 50% of the graduating class to score 3+ on one exam. Law earned Gold, which requires that at least 35% of the graduating class score 3+ on one exam.

Foran and Law both scored Platinum in the area of College Optimization, meaning over 15% took five or more AP Exams (with one in 9th/10th grade). This category recognizes schools that encourage students to build significant academic momentum, ensuring students have the experience and confidence to manage a full, rigorous post-secondary schedule before they even graduate.

“This historic achievement reflects our mission to provide every student with the tools to reach their highest potential,” said Steve Autieri, Assistant Superintendent for Teaching & Learning. “Seeing both high schools earn Gold status for the first time is a testament to the hard work of our educators and the incredible ambition of our students, as well as the long-term investment and support from our Board of Education.”
