Milford Public Schools, in partnership with Mermaid Books, welcomed “Fancy Nancy” illustrator Robin Preiss Glasser to Joseph A. Foran High School on Sunday for a special family literacy event celebrating art, storytelling, and creativity.
The morning featured hands-on craft activities inspired by the “Fancy Nancy” series, followed by a lively read-aloud of Glasser’s newest book. Families also had the opportunity to meet the illustrator, hear about her creative process, and participate in a book signing.
“We were thrilled to host such a joyful and engaging event for our families and the community in partnership with Mermaid Books,” said Dr. Amy Perras, Instructional Supervisor for Music, Art, and Library Media. “Opportunities like this bring books to life and help inspire a lifelong love of reading in our students.”
Kristen Mascia, owner of Mermaid Books, shared, “We founded Mermaid Books to build community within Milford and create an inspiring and joyful third space for readers of all ages. Like our friends in the Milford Public Schools, we strive to foster a love of books and reading in our young people. We’re so grateful for Amy Perras and MPS’s partnership and look forward to many more collaborations in the future.”
Milford Public Schools extends its appreciation to Mermaid Books for partnering to make this event possible and to the many families who joined in this celebration of imagination and literacy.
