Milford Public Schools is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Adam Apicella to the role of 6-12 STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) Instructional Supervisor.
With over a decade of experience in education, Mr. Apicella has a strong foundation in both teaching and administrative roles, bringing a multifaceted perspective to his work. His background includes serving as a math teacher at Coventry Public Schools and as Assistant Principal at Haddam Killingworth High School.
In his most recent role as assistant principal, which he assumed in 2019, Mr. Apicella oversaw all aspects of building operations, supervised the STEM, Family and Consumer Science, Physical Education/Health, Art/Music, and World Language departments, and developed 9th-grade science pathways.
Mr. Apicella is a passionate leader, dedicated to improving various aspects of the learning environment for students. He served on many committees for the Regional School 17 District, including the Data Team Steering Committee, Instructional Vision for Learning Steering Committee, Increasing Educator Diversity Committee, Mathematics Committee, Technology Committee, and Artificial Intelligence Committee. In addition, he played an instrumental role in the development of district-wide curriculum maps, facilitating interdisciplinary collaboration and strategic planning.
A strong advocate for continuous professional growth, Mr. Apicella led differentiated professional development sessions focused on instructional technology integration, empowering educators to effectively incorporate technology into their teaching practices to enhance student learning outcomes.
Mr. Apicella began his career in 2013 as a math teacher for Coventry Public Schools. While in this role, he redesigned the curricula for Geometry, Algebra 1, and Algebra 2, and developed a Statistics course curriculum that was adopted by multiple high schools.
Mr. Apicella received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics (2012) and a Master of Arts degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Connecticut (2013). He also holds a certification in Intermediate Administration from Sacred Heart University (2019).
“As someone who grew up in the area, it’s exciting to come and be part of the Milford community. I can’t wait to work with our incredible STEM team to inspire and support students as they prepare for whatever path they choose to take in life,” Mr. Apicella shared.
