TONIGHT! Friday, March 1 & Saturday, March 2:  Foran High’s Mane Street Players Present ‘Once Upon a Mattress’, @ Foran High, various show times

There’s excitement in the air at Foran High today as the Mane Street Players get ready to present Once Upon a Mattress and it is sure to be fantastic! There are three opportunities for you to see this show: Opening night is Friday (3/1) @ 7:00 p.m., Matinee on Saturday (3/2) @ 2:30 p.m., and Closing Night Show (also 3/2) @ 7:00 p.m.  Here’s the FLYER for more!

 


MPS Podcast Episode 17 Now Live!

Monday, 3/4: Parent Teacher Conf Appointment Portal Opens (9:00 a.m.)

Spring Conference Schedule

We are pleased to announce on Monday, March 4th, parents/guardians will be able to select a conference time through the My Conference Time sign-up portal (it will go live on your school’s website homepage on Monday, 3/4 @ 9:00 a.m.). Enter the My Conference Time portal and reserve your slot with your child’s teacher.  If you encounter any problems, please contact the school secretary.

 


Tuesday, 3/5: Board of Finance Technical Budget Discussion, Parsons, Conf. Rm. C, 5:30 p.m.

The Board of Finance is in its final stages of work as they will conduct their technical discussion about the various city and education budget proposals for 2024-25.  The BOF’s technical discussion will take place IN-PERSON, on Tuesday, (3/5) here in the Parsons Building, (Conf. Room C at 5:30 p.m.).  This meeting is open to the public. NEXT Saturday, 3/9: City of Milford St. Patrick’s Day Parade

Mark your calendars!! The city will be covered in green next Saturday (3/9/2024) as we enjoy the Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Step off is 1:00 p.m. from the Wasson Baseball Field parking lot.  Thousands of people attend this unofficial kickoff to Spring! Hope to see you there…

 


March is Music in Our Schools Month! (MIOSM)

Ahh yes … the calendar page has turned and March is here!  And with that, our Milford Public School students will proudly showcase their musical talents during Music in Our Schools Month.  We have several special events at all levels for students celebrating their skills in band, choir/chorus and strings.  The events will appear on the district’s event calendar and in school communications.  Don’t miss this wonderful collection of performances.

Jay Rowe’s ‘Smooth Jazz for Scholars’ Benefit Concert Slated for April 19th, 20th

And, while we’re talking about music, let’s not forget the annual fave: Jay Rowe’s Smooth Jazz for Scholars Benefit Concert.  Now in its 21st year, Jay puts together a stellar lineup for this world-class professional extravaganza.  Tickets are already on sale; get yours now!  All proceeds go to the Milford Public Schools music department.  We’ll be reminding you over the next few weeks – but let’s help Jay continue his annual gift to our school community. THIS WEEKEND: Sat. 3/2 – Sun., 3/3: MOJO Robotics Team to Compete on Saturday in First Event for 2024 in Hartford, FREE to watch

MOJO, Milford's high school robotics team which includes students from Jonathan Law and Joseph A. Foran, will be competing this weekend, March 2-3 at Hartford Public High School (55 Forest Street, Hartford, CT).  The event is open to the public and will run from about 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. each day.  You can also watch the event live at: https://www.thebluealliance.com/event/2024cthar.

Thursday, 3/7: FREE Family Movie Night, ‘Moana,’ Parsons Auditorium, 6:30 p.m. moana icon

The Milford Recreation Dept. is pleased to invite you to the last Free Family Movie Night, held in the Parsons Auditorium, starting at 6:30 p.m.  This will be a Hawaiian themed night and movie-goers are encouraged to dress in tropical prints, aloha shirts, leis, etc.  The only thing the Rec. Dept. asks for is that you have one adult RSVP on the MREC website, so they can plan accordingly.  Thanks and enjoy the show!

 


Milford Prevention Council Community Survey: All Are Welcome to Provide Input

The Milford Prevention Council is hoping to gain as much insight as possible from the community at large about substance abuse, underage drinking, vaping, and mental health concerns affecting youth in the Milford community.  The MPC has prepared an online survey and asks you to spend a few minutes providing your thoughts on these important topics.  Your input will help shape the future for our young people – thanks in advance!  SURVEY   FLYER.

Milford Rec.  Looking to Hire Lifeguards for the Summer

The Milford Rec. Dept. is looking for dedicated, reliable individuals who enjoy promoting a safe environment, love to spend their summer in the sun, and believe they would be a great addition to our staff. Lifeguards must be certified and at least 16 years old by the start of their first shift. Milford Recreation Dept. Offering Lifeguard Certification Classes, 4/6 and 4/7 mrec lifeguard course icon

For those looking to earn their Lifeguard Certification, Milford Recreation is offering an in-person certification class on April 6-7, 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. with additional online learning requirements required beyond the in-person instruction. The minimum age requirement is 15 years old. Participants who successfully complete this course will receive an American Red Cross certificate for Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED valid for 2 years.
