It’s Official! Board of Education, 2023-2025 Sworn In Last Week

The official City of Milford Inauguration took place last Monday (11/20) – and, as always, the event included all the celebratory features that make Milford so wonderful. It was at this event that our 10 Board of Education members were sworn in, promising to do their best for the 2023-2025 term.  Congratulations to 1st District: Scott Firmender, Christina Prete (Minority Leader); 2nd District: Susan Glennon (Board Chair), Meghan Doyle; 3rd District: Una Petroske (Majority Leader), Tracey Irby; 4th District: Cindy Wolfe Boynton, Tom Koba; and 5th District: Loren Mahler, Mike Smith. We are looking forward to our work together.

Winter Concert Season Schedule Released

It wouldn’t be a holiday here in Milford Public Schools without the bevy of school Winter Concerts we look forward to every year!  To help you keep it all straight, we are happy to share our ever-familiar Winter Concert Schedule Poster – designed for all of us so we don’t miss a single one! Our concert season always serves as a reminder of the strength of our Music Program and the efforts of everyone involved: staff, students, and parents (“Did you practice today??”).  Enjoy! Lamplight Stroll Postponed ‘Til Next Friday, 12/8; 5:00 – 9:00 p.m.

Due to the impending forecast for rain, the Downtown Milford Business Association has postponed the Annual Lamplight Stroll until next Friday, 12/8.  This highly attended event features the shops and businesses all along the Downtown Milford area and is the perfect time to visit with friends, do some holiday shopping, enjoy a horse and carriage ride, visit Santa, sing some carols and lots more.  All ages welcome.  We’ll remind you again next week – but wanted to get this news to you today in case you were planning on attending.  See you on the 8th!

 

Lifeguarding Course Set for January – for Ages 15+ - Through Milford Rec Dept.

The Milford Recreation Department will be conducting a Lifeguarding and Waterfront Skills Course for those interested in learning this valuable set of skills.  The purpose of the Waterfront Skills is to teach lifeguards the skills and knowledge needed to prevent and respond to emergencies in open-water areas found at public parks, resorts, summer camps and campgrounds. This program offers Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED courses to meet the various training needs of a diverse audience. Participants who successfully complete this course receive an American Red Cross certificate for Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED and Waterfront Skills both valid for 2 years. Milford Eagles Pop Warner Flag Football for Spring Registration Open

The MEPW is pleased to announce their registration is open for the Spring Season for Flag Football.  “Early Bird” discounts will be available through Dec. 31st.  Spring Flag Football focuses on skill development and the commitment is Sundays Only.  Click HERE for the registration site.

 

Milford Prevention Council Conducts 4th Annual Frosty Fest – Act Fast!

For the 4th year in a row, the downtown Milford Green will be adorned with the designs put together by our wonderful community and business members.  The Frosty Fest Snowman program gives us the chance to support the good works of the Milford Prevention Council, while dressing up our downtown area.  New this year:  Who will win bragging rights for the best snowman in Milford?  Check out all the details HERE.
