Reminder: Plastic Water Bottles Needed for MPS Middle Schoolers ‘Great Boat Race’ Send in by May 26th

water bottles

As reported last week, our middle schools will be creating their floating vessels for the First Annual GREAT BOAT RACE and they need your help.  Their eventual watercraft must carry TWO school administrators in the race that will launch from Milford Harbor.  Right now, our middle schools need to get their hands on as many empty plastic water bottles as possible – and that’s where you come in.

Please send in your empty plastic water bottles with your elementary or middle school student any time before Friday, May 26th.  Bottles will be gathered and delivered to the middle schools as they come in,  FLYER. The race will take place on ‘Pirate Day’ here in Milford (June 4th) – so mark the date on your calendar now.  And – if you want a quick smile – take a look at the commercial prepared by our middle schoolers to advertise the event.  It’s AWESOME!

mackenzies beach cleanup

Local former student Mackenzie Powers was concerned about finding trash on our beaches – and for the past 15 years has organized Mackenzie’s Annual Beach Cleanup.  The time has come, however, for Mackenzie to move on to bigger things (she’s an Environmental Fellow at Stetson University!) and she has arranged for her final Milford event.  Teams will deploy from Walnut Beach and Silver Sands and you are welcome to join in.  Pre-registration is available (so Mackenzie can arrange for proper quantities of clean up supplies).  Click HERE for more info and we hope to see you on the beach on May 6th!
