Student Data Privacy
The Milford Public Schools complies with State and Federal legislative regulations such as the new Act Concerning Student Data Privacy (PA:16-189), Children's Online Privacy Protection Rule (COPPA) and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). In response to the new law, CT PA 189 requires Boards of Education to enter into written contracts with consultants and operators (collectibly, "contractors") prior to providing contractors with, or allowing them access to student information, student records or student generated content. The new law went into effect July 1, 2018. Milford is in the process of working with all software vendors whose products are used by the district, that fall under the privacy legislation to obtain contract modifications to insure the suppliers are compliant with the law.
