Hello Bulldog Families,

May is a busy time of year. This week students in grades 3-5 did well testing with SBA. We celebrated our 4th grade musicians at their Spring Concert.  Everyone is working hard and enjoying any time we can get outside to have some playtime and release from all the work.  This week we held a fire drill and next week we will have our  last planned Incident Management Drill. We will still have at least one Fire Drill to go for the year.  Next week our Bulldog Broadcast Crew and Walker/Bus Safeties will be honored at the Mayor’s Youth Awards and we have our first day of Kindergarten Orientation for fully registered new Mathewson Bulldogs starting in the 23-24 SY!  Be sure to check out other things going on in the news below.

  • Mathewson Spring Plant Sale is 5/12! Check out information here! We ask that you please do not send in more than $30 with your child so that we have enough for all students to shop during the day. Thank you.

  • Mathewson is celebrating Teacher /Staff Appreciation Week next week! Here is some of the information below.

  • PTA Lifetime Achievement Award- Marlene Sanchez to Receive Lifetime Achievement Award from Milford PTA Council Milford Council of PTAs is proud and excited to announce MARLENE SANCHEZ will be the recipient of their National PTA Lifetime Achievement Award for 2023. Marlene is a PK teacher at Live Oaks -- but has served our youngest students across the district throughout her entire career. In addition to her vibrant work with MPS, Marlene has been deeply involved with a variety of special needs programming in Milford, including Camp Happiness and the Milford Adaptive Program (MAP) through the Milford Rec. Dept.  Congratulations and thank you, Ms. Sanchez, for your tireless efforts to improve the Milford community. 

  • We completed our first week of SBA!  Students will continue to take the Math and ELA part of the tests during the week of May  12th.  The science test will be administered during the week of May 22nd. Students will not be testing every day and there are make-up days for those students that may need them due to missed days or more time. 

Reminder:

  • Please make sure students have charged their chromebooks every night.  This is very important as there are no extra chromebooks for students to use.

  • Students will need headphones.  If you have a pair at home that your student is comfortable using, please send them in each day or they can keep them at school.

  • Make sure your student gets a good night's sleep and eats breakfast each morning so they are ready to do their best.

  • This week's Community Connection Center's Newsletter (CCC News)   contains information for 

Milford Public Library's  Sat. Music with Al deCant, US's Coast Guard Boat Safety classes, Mobile Food Pantry, and The 12th annual New Canaan Dog Days.  Remember that  the CCC website is updated with links to community resources. Have a wonderful week!

  • Mathewson Spring Portrait Proofs will be available soon!  Your child brought home a proof card with ordering instructions. The order deadline for free shipping to Mathewson is May 12th! After this you can still order pictures until June 2023 for a $7.50 shipping fee to your home.

Other News to Bark About!!

For our incoming Kindergarten families who are fully registered or currently in a MPS preschool program, an email was sent out with an invite to our Kickoff to Kindergarten school visits in May.  If your child is eligible for Kindergarten but you have not yet registered, please click the link  to register and be included in this Kickoff to Kindergarten experience. 

  • Attendance: All absences must be reported using the PowerSchool attendance form. If your child is going to be late or picked up early, please send a note in to the teacher, or email the teacher, our greeter mkothari@milforded.org and our secretary mgonski@milforded.org . Only absences should be reported through PowerSchool.
