Hello Bulldog Families,

What a gorgeous week for learning both in and out of the classroom this week! We had a lot going from testing to welcoming new kindergarten Bulldogs for 23-24 SY and our Plant Sale on Friday!  Thank you to all the families that helped to contribute to Teacher/Staff Appreciation this week.  Our PTA and Families truly spoiled our staff this week. We couldn’t do it without you!!  Next week we have our last virtual PTA meeting of the year.   We hope to see you online.  Thank you to all our parent volunteers that helped with student and staff celebrations and activities this week!

Take a look at all that is coming up ahead from the district and our school:

  • Mathewson Celebrates Memorial Day: Operation Poppy: This year we will continue our tradition of planting our Poppy Field out front to thank the many men and women that have served our country.  We hope you will stop by on Memorial Day Weekend to check out the messages of thanks in our field. We are planning to plant on the 25th or 26th. 

  • Mathewson School Field Day Times  If you plan to attend Field Day this year as a viewer please be sure to sign up using this Google Form.  All visitors will need to complete this for the smoothest entry into Field Day Activities. 

  • PTA Lifetime Achievement Award- Marlene Sanchez to Receive Lifetime Achievement Award from Milford PTA Council Milford Council of PTAs is proud and excited to announce MARLENE SANCHEZ will be the recipient of their National PTA Lifetime Achievement Award for 2023. Marlene is a PK teacher at Live Oaks -- but has served our youngest students across the district throughout her entire career. In addition to her vibrant work with MPS, Marlene has been deeply involved with a variety of special needs programming in Milford, including Camp Happiness and the Milford Adaptive Program (MAP) through the Milford Rec. Dept.  Congratulations and thank you, Ms. Sanchez, for your tireless efforts to improve the Milford community. 

  • We completed our second week of SBA!  Next week we will continue with make up testing and then Science Testing the week of May 22nd. 

Reminder:

  • Please make sure students have charged their chromebooks every night.  This is very important as there are no extra chromebooks for students to use.

  • Students will need headphones.  If you have a pair at home that your student is comfortable using, please send them in each day or they can keep them at school.

  • Make sure your student gets a good night's sleep and eats breakfast each morning so they are ready to do their best.

  • Mathewson Spring Portrait Proofs:  Your child brought home a proof card with ordering instructions. The order deadline for free shipping to Mathewson is May 12th! After this you can still order pictures until June 2023 for a $7.50 shipping fee to your home.

  • This week's Community Connection Center's Newsletter (CCC News)   contains information for 

Milford Public Library's evening programs, Milford's Open Space Walks and the Bartlett Arboretum in Stamford, CT.  Remember that  the CCC website is updated with links to community resources. Moms, have a wonderful Mother's Day!

Other News to Bark About!!

  • Attendance: All absences must be reported using the PowerSchool attendance form. If your child is going to be late or picked up early, please send a note in to the teacher, or email the teacher, our greeter mkothari@milforded.org and our secretary mgonski@milforded.org . Only absences should be reported through PowerSchool.
