Dear West Shore Families,
We officially survived the blizzard! ❄️ After several days of snow and disruptions, it was wonderful to welcome students back into the building, even for a short two-day week. Thank you for your flexibility and partnership in helping everyone get back into routines so smoothly. We are hoping for a stretch of uninterrupted school days ahead!
PTA Paint Night – March 5th
The West Shore PTA is sponsoring a Paint Night on March 5th at 6:00 PM. Join guest artist Megan Laudenslager for a fun and creative evening. We hope many of our families will attend and enjoy this community event together. 🎨
Student Council – School Dance
Permission slips for the upcoming school dance were distributed to students. All permission slips must be turned in by Friday, March 13th. If your child plans to attend, please be sure the completed form is returned on time. 📋
Spelling Bee
Congratulations to Lucas Llorente, who won the West Shore sixth grade Spelling Bee! Lucas will represent West Shore at the citywide competition on March 25th. We are proud of his accomplishment and wish him the best of luck! 🍀
Parent Conferences – Date Adjustments
Conference times have been adjusted:
Evening Conferences: Tuesday, March 17 from 5:30–8:00 PM
Afternoon Conferences: Wednesday, March 18 from 1:05–3:05 PM
Students will be dismissed at 12:35 PM on both days.
Parent Conference Reminders:
Families can access the online conference schedule system, Myconferencetime, starting Wednesday, March 4 after 9:00 AM and going through Monday, March 16 at 12:00 PM.

Go to the WSMS website and click on Spring Conference “Click here to Sign-Up” and follow the directions.
Quick tip: Look for emails from “noreply@myconferencetime.com” when searching email for conference confirmation communications.
All conferences will be in person unless a parent/guardian requests a Google Meet link directly from the teacher.
If you prefer a virtual session, please contact the teacher to request a Google Meet link to conduct your conference virtually after you have confirmed your conference time through My Conference Time Online Scheduler.
Due to limited slots available per teacher, it is not possible for every parent/guardian to meet with every one of their child’s teachers. Therefore, parents/guardians are asked to limit their selection to two core teachers per student (Math, Language Arts, Social Studies, Science,Spanish, or French) and three Unified Arts teachers (Phys. Ed., Art, Music, Tech Ed, and Health).
If parents/guardians wish to meet with additional core/unified art teachers or the team as a whole please contact the specific teacher or team to set up a mutually agreed upon time, during the school day, outside of the conference dates to meet.
Parents/guardians can also schedule meetings with the guidance counselor, social worker, psychologist, speech and language, and special education teachers using this system.
WAVE Update
The WAVE Art Show at the Firehouse Gallery last weekend was a wonderful success. Thank you to all who attended and supported our students. The next WAVE Family Engagement Night will be held at the Shelton Sports Center. More information will be shared soon.
AAPPL World Language Assessment
Students enrolled in World Language classes will participate in the AAPPL (Assessment of Performance toward Proficiency in Languages) from March 9th–March 13th. This assessment measures students’ reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills in real-life language situations. Our World Language teachers have prepared students well and will guide them through the process.
