WS News!

Dear West Shore Families,

As we head into the weekend, there’s a bit of winter anticipation in the air, with a possible snowstorm that might bring us our first snow day on Monday. ❄️ We appreciate your flexibility during the winter months and will communicate promptly if there are any schedule changes.

📊 Report Cards & Grades

The first marking period of the trimester ended on January 21, and report cards will be released February 6th. Thank you for your continued partnership in supporting student learning and growth.

📘 NAEP Assessment (Grade 8)

On February 17, fifty eighth-grade students from West Shore Middle School will participate in the 2026 NAEP Assessment, a nationally representative assessment in reading, math, and science. Selected families received letters last week with additional details. This assessment provides important information about student learning nationwide and does not impact individual student grades.

🎭 Drama Club Fundraiser

The West Shore Drama Club is hard at work preparing for Disney’s FROZEN JR. To support the production, the club is selling T-shirts for $25.00. A flyer with ordering information is linked here for your convenience.

🗓 Order deadline: March 1

Thank you for supporting our students and the arts at West Shore.

🎨 WAVE After School Program Updates

We are excited to share that our WAVE After School Program will host an Art Show on February 20 and 21 at the Firehouse Gallery on Naugatuck Avenue in Milford. This is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate student creativity.

In addition, WAVE will be hosting three free Family Engagement Nights at the Shelton Sports Center. A sign-up form was sent earlier this week to WAVE families.

📗 Yearbook Information (Reminder)

Yearbooks are still available for purchase at a cost of $45. Families may pay online, by cash, or by check.

As shared last week, eighth-grade families also have the opportunity to submit a booster ad message to celebrate their student. Additional details and deadlines were recently shared by Mrs. Donini. We encourage families to place orders early to ensure availability.

⛷️ Ski Club

This week marked our third Ski Club trip to Mount Southington. Warmer temperatures made for a great day on the slopes, and students had a wonderful experience. We are grateful to our staff members who continue to give their time to make these trips possible.

📅 Upcoming Dates

  • 2/6 – Report Cards Released
