Dear West Shore Families,
As we wrap up our final full week of the school year, there’s so much to celebrate and reflect on at West Shore!
Last week, our Drama Club brought the magic of Disney’s The Little Mermaid Jr. to life on our stage—and what a spectacular performance it was! From the moment the curtain rose, audiences were treated to outstanding singing, dancing, and acting. Every detail, from the vibrant costumes to the set design and behind-the-scenes work, was carried out with professionalism and heart. It was truly a joy to see our students’ talents shine so brightly.
This Tuesday, our student-athletes represented West Shore with pride at the annual Middle School Track Meet held at Jonathan Law High School. Competing against peers from across the district, our students demonstrated skill, sportsmanship, and determination in every event. We had many impressive finishes and medal winners—and even more importantly, a team full of proud, supportive competitors.
Tonight, we celebrate one of the most meaningful events of our school year: the Eighth Grade Stepping Up Ceremony. Beginning at 6:15 p.m. at Jonathan Law High School, this special evening is a time to honor the accomplishments, growth, and spirit of the West Shore Class of 2025. The eighth-grade team has worked hard to plan a beautiful ceremony filled with music, awards, and heartfelt moments. We can’t wait to see our students dressed up and ready to be recognized for all they’ve achieved.
On Thursday, our sixth-grade students had the unique opportunity to meet author Cat Urbain, known for her book Diego, WHYND and the Block Island Ghost. Ms. Urbain captivated the audience with a live reading, answered students’ thoughtful questions about her writing process, and even signed copies of her book. It was a powerful and inspiring experience for our young readers and writers.
To top off the week, our General Music classes received a very special visit from West Shore alum and professional guitarist Joey Concepcion. Joey gave an unforgettable presentation, jamming with students and sharing stories about his musical journey. It was a true rock star moment for our aspiring musicians and a reminder of the incredible things West Shore students go on to achieve.
As a reminder, next week includes the final three days of the school year—all of which will be early release days. We look forward to ending the year on a positive and celebratory note.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support and partnership.
Warmly,
Carrie Keramis
