West Shore Middle School Weekly Newsletter
Dear West Shore Families,
Art Show Celebrations!
We’re thrilled to announce that our talented student artists will be featured at the City Wide Art Show, starting with our Opening Night on Monday, May 5th. If you’re not able to attend that evening, the halls of Parsons will display our students’ incredible artwork for the next three weeks. Please take time to visit and support our artists—you won’t be disappointed!
Smarter Balanced Assessment Testing — Important Information
Smarter Balanced Assessment testing at West Shore Middle School begins on Monday, May 12, and runs through May 28. It is extremely important that all students are present and on time and with a charged Chromebook each day of testing. Students are required to be in their homerooms by 8:00 AM.
Please note: Students arriving after 8:15 AM on testing days will not be permitted into the testing rooms and will be supervised in the Media Center Lab until testing is complete for the day. Students who are late or absent on a testing day will be scheduled for a make-up session and will be pulled from class to complete the assessment.
Testing will take place first thing in the morning, and West Shore will follow a delayed schedule on testing days only. Make-up testing days will follow our regular school day schedule.
We appreciate your help in ensuring students are well-rested, arrive on time, and are ready to give their best effort. We are confident that our students will rise to the challenge and demonstrate all they have learned!
PTA Lifetime Achievement Awards
Please join me in congratulating Megan Laudenslager and Julie Fisher, who were honored last night at Parsons for their outstanding commitment to children’s education, health, and well-being through their leadership at West Shore and their work with the WAVE Program. Congratulations, Megan and Julie, on this well-deserved recognition!
Milford Historical Society Docent Opportunities
The Milford Historical Society is offering summer volunteer docent positions for students entering 7th grade and above. Last summer, over 40 student docents led tours through the Society’s historic museum houses, guided by adult docents. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to build communication skills and learn about local history. For more information and training dates, click here.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support of West Shore Middle School. We look forward to a strong and successful finish to the school year!
