News

Good Afternoon Meadowside Families,

From our Kindergarten Meet and Greet on Thursday to our opening two days of school, we had an amazingly smooth and fun return to school!  It was wonderful to see our returning students and our new students forming cohesive classroom communities from Day 1 of the school year!  As a school we are so excited to be on your child’s educational journey with you this year!

Meadowside Elementary School

Our PTA is looking forward to seeing families tonight at our PTA Back to School Picnic from 5:00 -6:30.  It is a great opportunity to reconnect and enjoy being together!

Thank you to our PTA for providing a yummy back to school luncheon from Lasse’s for our staff, for already providing our Meadowside t-shirts for staff (we looked awesome at convocation and throughout the school today!) and for planning back to school events such as our Kindergarten playdate as well as tonight's back to school picnic.   We love teaming up with our PTA and can’t wait for more fun activities this fall and all year long!

Check us out at Convocation with our Amazing Teacher of the Year -- Mrs. Lauren Boyington! Mrs. Boyington gave a truly inspirational speech for our district -- highlighting the incredible impact that teachers have on our students - and they on us!Teach of the Year

Hold the Date: Our school wide open house is scheduled for Tuesday, September 9th from 6:00 - 8:00.  Save the date and time for now -- more information will follow next week.  We are so looking forward to seeing everyone there.

Running A School Bus Stop Sign In Georgia | Yeargan & Kert, LLC

Important Safety Reminder: The back parking lot is reserved for staff during the school day.  Parents should not be utilizing it for pick up in the afternoon as it poses a safety issue with students and staff  loading on buses at the side of the building.  It is important to note that cars can not block our school buses and per state law and safety protocols should never pass a bus with their stop sign extended.

Cell Phone and Smartwatches: Please be aware that our district policy reads:   “At the elementary level - No use of a cell phone/smartwatch or other personal communication device will be permitted during school hours. These devices must be turned off or on silent and left in backpacks, stored in a student’s locker/cubbie or other place designated by building administration.”  Please help us ensure that all student cell phones and  smartwatches are turned off or on silent and left in backpacks as the sending and receiving of texts and calls is a definite disruption to our learning environment.  Students engaging in texting and calling will be asked to put their devices away or to turn them over to staff for safe keeping.  As always if you need to get a message to your child, please call the office - we are more than happy to pass the message along.
