Hello Bulldog Families,
Our classrooms are sparkling and staff has been busy setting up for the start of a new year. Please be sure to visit our Twitter site or the link on our Mathewson Website to see some early pictures of setup (and for pictures throughout the year). We are pleased to announce a new hire to our building, Mrs. Swaller, who will join our kindergarten team this year. She comes with a wealth of experience and is ready to join our Bulldog teaching team! We also welcome back to the classroom Mrs. Aronin, who changed from one of our Instructional Coach positions to grade 4. Below you will find some district and school information for the month of September. Be on the lookout for our NEW STAFF ATTIRE on the first Friday. We are happy to show off our Totally PAWsome new threads and our Bulldog pride by having staff wear our staff shirts on Fridays. Be sure to read the PAWprint every Friday with new information to come. We can’t wait to see you all and look forward to starting a PAWmazing school year!

Mathewson Playground Playdate sponsored by our PAWmazing PTA
Mathewson Playground update: Our playground crews are working hard to ready the two new playgrounds for the start of school. We might not be ready for day 1, but it shouldn’t be too long after.
Friendly Reminder: No Food or Drink on School Buses: Just a friendly reminder this year. Food and drinks are not allowed on our school buses when students are being transported to or from school. Consuming these items while in transit can cause a safety concern; your bus driver will be reminding you as the school year gets underway.
We look forward to welcoming our incoming kindergarten families on Tuesday Aug. 29th at 2 pm for a K Welcome session. Come see your child’s teacher, classroom and lots of other caring adults and spaces in our learning community!
Chromebook Insurance: You Can Renew Right on the Parent Portal: Our low-cost Chromebook Insurance program is WELL worth the annual renewal fee ($25 per year). If you’ve got kids, then you already know there’s always the potential for something to happen to the Chromebook during the year: lost (~$230 replacement cost), replacement mainboard (~$90), cracked screen (~$40), broken hinges (~$15), or broken keyboard (~$60), just to name a few. For $25, you can have peace of mind and save a lot of aggravation when something goes wrong. You can reserve your Chromebook insurance right on your Parent Portal account. Our first official day of school is Wednesday, August 30th!
You should be receiving lots of information about arrival, dismissal and start of school to arrive within the next week via USPS mail. Here is an electronic copy of my official welcome letter to families which you will be receiving.
Milford will supply all needed school supplies for our students. Teacher letters will also specify this and will be on the way to you the week before school. However having a backpack, lunch box and sneakers ready to go for day one will help.
Mathewson Spirit Week is the week of September 18th!
