HMS Smarter Balance Assessment Information

HMS students completed taking the SBA ELA test this week. 

SBA Science (NGSS) testing for grade 8 only starts on Monday. Nightly emails will once again be sent out reminding families of the testing periods and times for the following day. 

Click Revised Testing Schedule Calendar to view/print the updated SBA testing days, content, and periods. 

Students are to be at school in their homerooms at 8:00 AM (Just like normal).

Students not arriving prior to the start of their testing period will not be permitted into the testing site and will go to the Media Center Lab until the testing is completed. 

Students late to school/testing or absent on a testing day will be scheduled for a make-up test and be pulled from class to take the assessment. 

Students are to come to school everyday with charged chromebooks, headphones or earbuds, and their chromebook charger as the assessment is taken using the chromebook.

Please make sure your child is well rested, has eaten breakfast, and arrives at school on time.

Families are encouraged to make appointments accordingly so that their child is present during their testing day/period. Please reference the above calendar for specific testing days and periods.

Drama Club Presents, The SpongeBob Musical 

Shows are at 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM this Saturday, 4/25/26 at Law.

HMS Spring Dance

The Dance will be on Friday, May 8 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM in our gym.

Please click Under the Sea Dance to complete payment and the permission slip. Students may not attend the dance if a permission slip is not received. Please know that payment and the permission slip is due by Wednesday, May 6. 

The Spirit Club will once again be selling concessions at the dance and your help with snack/water donations will be greatly appreciated. 

Items MUST be peanut free. We are looking for individually wrapped items to be sold such as; bagged chips/popcorn/pretzels, prepackaged candy items like Skittles, Starburst, Twizzlers, and Sourpatch. All snacks will be sold for $1.

We are also looking for donations of water (8 oz) that will be provided at no charge to the students. We need approximately 400 small bottles of water.

Donations can be dropped off the day prior to the dance on Thursday, May 7. A cart will be available outside the school starting at 6:00 AM so early donations can be dropped off.

Avery's Little Army Fundraising Fair

Community Partnership Food Drive

First United Church of Christ and Food 2 Kids are partnering together to collect food to help stock pantries and food banks. 

Milford Public Schools are supporting the partnership by collecting food donations at schools from April 20 through April 30. 

Families/students can drop off donations in the front lobby starting Monday, April 20. 

There will be a culminating community event on May 1 on the

SpongeBob Tickets

Ticket sales are on sale now for the Harborside Drama Club's production of The SpongeBob Musical, Youth Edition, happening at Jonathan Law High School on Saturday, April 25 at 2pm and 6pm. Tickets are $12 and children ages 3 and under are free. All proceeds benefit the Harborside Drama Club.
