Benefits to children and families who attend  play and learn opportunities:

1. Social and Emotional Development: Interacting with other children in a playgroup setting allows children to express and regulate their emotions. They learn to manage feelings like joy, frustration, and empathy, which are important for their emotional well-being. Early socialization promotes confidence, empathy, and the ability to form positive relationships.

2. Language and Communication: Playgroups support the development  of oral language skills ( receptive and expressive) and vocabulary development.

3. Cognitive Development: During play group sessions,  children engage in intentional play based experiences  that support creativity,  innovation, personal development,  and citizenship.

4. Preparing for School Readiness: Playgroups  follow a structured routine . Children become familiarized with activities like morning meetings,  following instructions,  and transitioning between whole and small group activities.

5. Family Involvement: Play group sessions are perfect  opportunities for families to interact with one another to discuss child development, learn strategies for supporting growth and development at home ,  obtain important information about resources within the community,  and develop a network of support.

Overall, playgroups provide a nurturing and stimulating environment where children can develop important skills and abilities that will benefit them as they transition to a school setting.
