ESMS

It’s been a busy week here at ESMS!

It was wonderful to see so many of our students shine during their performances in chorus, band, orchestra, and at EastStock. Their talent, dedication, and school spirit were truly on display—we’re so proud of them! A big thank-you to our music teachers and staff who helped make these events such a success, and to our families for coming out to support our students.

We also celebrated our 5th Annual Career Day, and it was a great success! A heartfelt thank-you to all the family members, community partners, and volunteers who came to share their time and experiences with our students.

Please take a moment to review important updates and reminders below.

Smarter Balanced Assessments (SBA) will continue on Monday & Tuesday. Please remind your child to charge their Chromebook the night before and encourage them to get a good night’s sleep and eat a healthy breakfast. Your support goes a long way in helping our students feel confident and prepared—thank you!

NGSS Science Testing for Grade 8 students will take place on Thursday, May 23. As with SBA testing, please ensure students arrive on time, well-rested, and with a fully charged Chromebook.

MPS District-Wide Paraeducator of the Year: Please join us in congratulating East Shore Middle School’s very own Meghan Cole, who has been named the District-Wide Paraeducator of the Year! Meghan works tirelessly on behalf of our students each and every day. Her dedication, compassion, and unwavering support make a lasting impact on our school community. We are so proud to have her as part of the East Shore family—congratulations, Meghan!

Crisis Drill: Conducting emergency drills (fire, crisis, lockdown, etc.) is one of the most important ways we enhance our preparedness for students and staff during an emergency. Drills allow us to practice what we need to do when an emergency arises in our school.

ESMS plans to conduct a crisis drill next week. This will only be a drill and will be conducted in accordance with the School Incident Management Protocols established by the district and in collaboration with our local first responders.  Please discuss the importance of our emergency drills with your children.  If you have any feedback please reach out to lswanson@milforded.org or jgenova@milforded.org. We thank you for your cooperation and partnership in making our schools a safer place for learning.

MESSAGES FROM THE ESMS PTA: Join the PTA at Fire Engine Pizza on Melba Street anytime on Monday, May 19th for our final restaurant fundraiser! Dine in or take out during their regular business hours and a portion of sales will be donated to the PTA! Enjoy some good pizza for a good cause!
