Happy Friday!
As we turn the calendar to May, we are heading into one of the busiest—and most exciting—times of the school year! From celebrations and field trips to activities and special events, there’s so much to look forward to in the weeks ahead. Next week, we hope to see you at our PTA Meeting on Tuesday at 6:30 PM and/or cheering on our students and staff at the Student-Staff Basketball Game on Thursday at Foran High School @5:00 PM.
Please take a few moments to review this week’s updates carefully so you don’t miss out on any of the important events and information. Thank you for your continued support!
Teacher/Paraprofessional/Parent of the Year: I am thrilled to announce and congratulate our Teacher of the Year, Bonnie Etense, Paraprofessional of the Year, Meghan Cole, and Parent of the Year, Jackie Vigilante. These outstanding individuals exemplify ESMS values. They work tirelessly for and with our students - providing support, encouragement, and a consistent presence that makes a lasting impact. Their commitment to our school community goes far beyond the classroom, and their positive influence can be felt in every hallway. We are proud and grateful to have them on our team!
Next week is Teacher Appreciation Week—a time to thank the dedicated educators who support and inspire our students every day. Please encourage your children to show their appreciation, whether with a note, kind gesture, or simple thank you. Every bit of gratitude means so much. Additionally, if you’d like to help, the PTA is having a salad bar for our teachers. Find out how to help here.
SBA Testing Information: We will begin the Smarter Balanced Assessments on Monday May 12th. These assessments are all digital, so please be sure your child’s chromebooks are completely powered down and restarted to receive the update to the secure browser. Also, please be sure chromebooks are charged each evening. If your child has headphones, they can bring their own to use during the test as well. Finally, students should be sure to have a book with them in the event that they finish before the test session ends.
Lost and Found: As we head into the spring season, we wanted to share some photos of our Lost and Found table in the cafeteria. Items include jackets, coats, water bottles, and books. Please encourage your child to check the Lost and Found and claim any missing belongings as soon as possible. Unclaimed items will be donated to the Beth-El Center.
Student Volunteer Opportunity at the Milford Historical Society: The Milford Historical Society is seeking student volunteers (rising 7th graders and up) to serve as docents this summer, guiding visitors through three historic museum houses and sharing artifacts from Colonial through Victorian eras, including the notable Coffin Exhibit of Native American treasures. Volunteers will gain community service hours, leadership experience, and insights into American history and museum operations. Students are asked to volunteer at least one weekend day per month from June through September. A training session will be held on Sunday, May 18, 2025, from 1–3 PM at 34 High Street.
