Operations & Facilities

In order to activate the guiding principles, every school district in Connecticut must address the
following Main Operational Considerations in preparing to open.

These common operational areas are:

Cohorting

Students will be grouped as a cohort in the same class or other smaller groups of students so each team functions as independently from other cohorts/groups in order to mitigate spread.

Social Distancing & Facilities

All schools will be reconfigured prior to opening school to ensure classrooms, cafeterias, gymnasiums, auditoriums, and other spaces maximize social distancing consistent with the most current public health guidelines.

Face Coverings

All staff and students will be expected to wear a protective face covering or face mask that completely covers the nose and mouth when inside the school building.

Transportation

Buses will operate close to capacity with heightened health and safety protocols in place, including the use of face coverings/masks and the implementation of
assigned seating for all students and adults on board. Should conditions change, bus capacity may be reduced and require changes to transportation services.
