9th Grade Health
WELCOME TO HEALTH EDUCATION!
This is a half-year course (two marking periods) .5 credits. This is a required course that must be passed or the student is required to retake the course.
Description of the course: This course covers a variety of topics of current concerns to teenagers, such as wellness, interpersonal relationships, and protection from major health threats, drug abuse prevention education, nutrition, human growth and devlopment and sexually transmitted diseases. Class activities provide students the opportunities to consider and personally apply course content. Students are encouraged to make decisions that affect their health and fitness, which will improve one’s quality of life in the future.
The values to determine your final grade for the course are as follows:
1. The first marking period 40%
2. The second marking period 40%
3. The final exam 20%
The grade for each marking period will be determined as follows:
Each assignment is assigned a certain amount of points according to time and difficulty. At the end of each marking period scores are totaled and a grade is determined by a point system.
