Mrs. Worzel’s Class: 2nd Grade~Room 11 (2017-2018)
Thank you for taking the time to read through the important information below. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email me at anytime.
School begins at 8:40am and ends at 3:25pm (School doors will open 20 minutes prior to the start of school each day). Please help your child to arrive at school on time and know how they are getting home each day. If your child is absent, please send a note to school the day he/she returns explaining the absence. This information is needed to maintain your child's health records.
Parent/Teacher conferences are held twice a year (October and April). At these conferences we will be discussing your child’s accomplishments, strengths, and overall progress. Please feel free to schedule additional conferences if needed.
We will take a snack break everyday. Students can either bring a snack from home, or purchase a snack from the cafeteria when they arrive to school in the morning. Milk is also available for purchase.
We are in the first lunch wave and will eat lunch from 11:25-11:55.
Sending Money To School:
Please send all money to school in a sealed envelope marked with your child's name and what the money is for on the front.
We will take a recess break everyday, weather permitting. Please consider the weather outside when dressing your child for school each day.
We love to celebrate birthdays in Room 11. Since there is a no-food policy at Calf Pen, please consider celebrating your child's birthday with goodie bags including stickers, pencils, bubbles, etc. Please let me know if you would like the class to share in your child's special day.
School policy regarding invitations is very specific. No party invitations are to be passed out at school unless;
1. The entire class is being invited or,
2. If a boy is inviting all the boys in the class or if a girl is inviting all the girls in the class.
Toys At School:
We have plenty of activities, equipment, and games for students to use here at school. I ask that you please leave all toys at home, unless the students have been asked to bring something special in to school.
Home/School Communication Folder:
Your child will receive a 2 pocket home/school communication folder from me. Please use this folder to send any notes, money, homework, etc. to and from school. It is important that your child remember to bring this folder to school each and every day. Please help them with this big responsibility.
All homework will go home in your child's home/school communication folder. Students will have nightly homework Monday through Thursday. Please refer to the “Second Grade Homework Guidelines” section for more information about homework this year.
One of the best gifts any parent can give their child is the love of good books and the joy of reading. Children who read at home, or are read to, have a head start on reading success in school and life. I will be sending home Scholastic book order forms through out the school year. If you would like to order, please fill out the form on the back of the flyer and return it to school with a check made payable to "Scholastic Book Clubs" (NO CASH PLEASE). I order the books online and they arrive in about two weeks. Each order placed helps earn free books for our classroom, however there is never any obligation to buy. I know no better way to encourage reading than to allow children some choice in the books they would like to read.
Please feel free to contact me at any time with questions or concerns you may have. You can email me directly at firstname.lastname@example.org
