Nutrition Label Project

Due Tuesday March 22, 2016 for A day students and Wednesday March 23, 2016 for B day students.

After selecting your nutrition label, using the Nutrition Label worksheet to record your information. In addition to recording information on the worksheet, please provide a detailed explaination in answering the following questions:

•How many calories am I actually eating? Is that number low, medium, or high?
•What nutrients should I limit or get enough of and why?
•What’s relevant about the footnote?
•How can I tell if a %DV is high or low?
•Which nutrients have no %DV?

Healthy Breakfast/Snack
Students will bring in their healthy breakfast/snack on Wednesday March 2, 2016 for all "A" day students and Thursday March 3, 2016 for all "B" day students. All morning classes are to bring in a nutrient dense breakfast consisting of four different foods from four of the six food groups (grains, proteins, fruits, vegetables, dairy, oils). Students have been given an index card to list the ingredients and steps to create the breakfast/snack. Students cannot use peanut butter or any nuts for this assignment.

Test will be on Monday February 29, 2016 for all "A" day students and Tuesday March 1, 2016 for all "B" day students. Students have reviewed content to study.

Choose My Plate - Super Tracker Directions

To obtain your own healthy eating plan please follow the directions listed below.

1.) Go to www.choosemyplate.gov

2.) Click the arrows on the main page till you see Super Tracker or type super tracker in the search box.

3.) Click on the super tracker icon or the words Super Tracker highlighted in blue.

4.) Click create profile

5.) Enter in your information. The more specific you can be in terms of your height, weights and activity level the more accurate your plan will be on your specific nutritional needs.

6.) Skip step 2 (it is not necessary for this assignment).

7.) Click submit.

8.) Print your plan and bring to class for 1/19/16

Personal Safety Packet
The personal safety packet students have been working on in class will be due Thursday October 22, 2015 for B/D day students and Friday October 23, 2015 for A/C day students. Group definitions and class definitions were completed in class. Please be sure to draw a detailed picture for each vocabulary word to demonstrate understanding. Please email me if you have any questions or see me during learning center in room 7.

Personal Safety
Grade 6 health education students will be studying personal safety starting the week of October 12. During this unit students will learn about bullying vs. mean spirited behavior, harassment and internet safety.
