NEWS

Summer Reading and Math ‘Packets’ Now ‘Live’ on the Website. We MUST be getting close to the end of the year if we are announcing the much anticipated SUMMER READING AND MATH ‘PACKETS.’  While we haven’t issued actual paper packets in a long time, the work is still required – and you can find it online on the district website under the ACADEMICS tab (Summer Programming 2018).  Lots of information there – so don’t delay!  Take a look over the weekend.

2nd Annual ‘Dash for Danni’ 5K (June 30th) -  The 2nd Annual Dash for Danni 5K will take place on Saturday, June 30th – and everyone is welcome to participate.  Danni Kemp, a 2015 Foran High graduate, was a softball standout there and, later, at Stonybrook University.  Sadly, in March 2017, Danni passed away after a valiant battle against brain cancer.  This race has been organized in her honor with all proceeds going to the Danni Kemp Cancer Support Fund, a 501 c3 nonprofit fund. Advanced registration (by June 15th) is recommended in order to receive a race t-shirt.  Registration Fee: $30 (adults, 19+), $25 (ages 13 – 18).  Please click HERE to go to the flyer containing more info and a link to register.  Thank you!

Summer School Programming:  If your student needs to enroll in our Summer School (Credit Recovery) Program, you will want to jot down the following dates.  Registration for Summer School begins next week.  Here are the times available for in-person registration:

EVENT HIGHLIGHTS

Saturday, 6/9: (Tomorrow), Milford Harbor Duck Race – back by popular demand! Milford Memorial Bridge (downtown), 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., duck ‘drop’ at 12:00 noon.  Conducted under the auspices of the Milford United Way and the Woodruff Family YMCA, we will once again see thousands of ducks finding their way through Milford Harbor.  This fundraising event is one that will bring a smile to all who see it on Saturday, June 9th – and you can get in on the fun, too.  ‘Adopt’ a duck – and you might win a prize! To purchase (adopt) a duck ($5 per duck) and to learn more about the race, itself, click HERE.

Sunday, 6/10: Pirate’s Day/Downtown Milford, (see details for times, below).  Aaaarrrghh, ye mateys! It’s that time of year when Captain Kidd wreaks havoc on the little hamlet known as Milford.  Dress in your swashbuckling best and join us as we make merry downtown on Sunday.   Lots of fun activities for the kiddies (of all ages) – Treasure Hunt, Live music, food trucks, pop-up vendors and more. If you’re an early riser, you might even want to have breakfast ($10) with some pirates at Lisman Landing at 9:00 a.m.

All other activities get into full swing around or a little before noon (pirates don’t often get up too early, you know).  The Captain is expected to arrive about 12:00 noon in Milford Harbor, by boat.  Be careful, though – he’s tricky! Brought to you by the Downtown Milford Business Association.

Monday, June 11th: Board of Education Business Meeting, Parsons, 7:00 p.m.  As always, the Board of Education meeting is open to everyone.  Here’s what’s on tap for this month’s meeting:  Milford Public Schools’ HS Art Recognition; Policies (Up for Review: Health Examinations, Security Check/Fingerprinting, Employment/Reference Checks, Personnel Records); Human Resources Report; 2017-2018 Proposed Budget Transfer Request; Disbursement Report; Consent Agenda Items.  As always, we encourage all residents to get involved and learn about the Board of Education.  Click here for the MEEETING PACKET.

Enjoy the weekend, everyone.  See you next week!
