EVENTS

Sunday, May 26th: Nat’l Invention Convention Fundraiser @ Eli’s, 8:30 – 10:00 a.m. The Milford Education Foundation will be conducting a Fundraising effort on SUNDAY (5/26) in the form of a Pancake Breakfast, held at Eli’s Tavern (downtown/Daniel Street). Funds are urgently needed to enable six Milford students who have earned spots in the 2019 National Invention Convention, to be held at the Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation, located in Dearborn, Michigan.  The convention takes place a few days after the fundraiser (yikes!) so any support you can provide would be great for these kids. Thanks in advance!  FLYER.

Sunday, May 26th: Memorial Day ‘Wreath Laying’ Ceremony, @ the Parkette in from of City Hall, 9:45 a.m.  Please join our fellow Milford residents for this short but moving ceremony in commemoration of Memorial Day.  It’s a wonderful learning opportunity for all of us.  Let’s recognize the sacrifices of our fallen heroes.

Sunday, May 26th: Memorial Day Parade, the Downtown parade route, 2:00 p.m. Step Off:  What a terrific event!  Join the hundreds of Milford residents who will attend this annual parade.  ALL MARCHERS are expected to report at the Wasson Field parking lot at 1:00 p.m. in order to find your unit and receive instructions.  Happy Memorial Day!

Tuesday, May 28th: the Annual James Wynne Middle School Track Meet, @ Jonathan Law, 9:00 a.m. One of the best events of the year! Who will gain ‘bragging rights’ as the Top Track Team from the middle school contingent? Start time is 9:00 a.m. with our middle schoolers competing in 6 track and field events.  Always exciting – right down to the last relay event!  Good luck, all!

Tuesday, May 28th: End of the Year Celebration, 5:30 p.m., Parsons. This annual event gives all of us a chance to congratulate the ‘best of the best’ in 2019.  Come help us recognize the Teachers/Paras/Parents of the Year for each of our schools AND our Districtwide winners representing us for the coming year.  We also will thank our retirees as they begin the next part of their journey.  Hope to see you there.

Tuesday, May 28th: Board of Education Meeting: 7:00 p.m., Parsons. We invite you to join us at the May Board of Education meeting (Committee of the Whole).  Subjects on tap this month include an introduction of New Administrators (for the 2019-20 academic year) and the following policies (first reading): P3160 Transfer of Funds Between Categories, P3326.1 Payroll Procedures and Authorized Signatures, P3450 Monies in School Buildings, P3453 School Activity Funds, P3500 Non-Instructional Operations, P3510 Operation and Management of Plant, P3514 Authorized Use of School-Owned Materials, P3516 Safety: Buildings & Grounds Inspection & Reporting, P3516.5 Safety: Sexual Offenders on School Property, P3516.13 Risk Management Policy Statement.  All are welcome.

Friday, May 31st: Deadline to ‘Adopt’ Your Ducks: It’s almost here, folks!  The ‘Quack Attack’ (also known as the Annual Harbor Duck Race) will take place next Saturday (June 1st).  Funds raised will benefit the United Way.   Click on the links to ‘adopt’ your ducks online for the Big Race.
