AUGIE HARRIGAN (HSMS), our 2019 Parent of the Year

Everyone is welcome to attend the End of the Year Celebration, where not only our districtwide winners will be recognized, but also our winners at the individual school level.  The event will be held in the Parsons Auditorium on Tuesday, May 28th – beginning at 5:30 p.m.  Please join us as we thank all of our award winners for their contributions to the Milford Public Schools.

Board of Aldermen Approve the Education Budget for 2019-20:  On Wednesday evening, the Board of Aldermen met to vote on the City and Education budgets.  We are pleased to tell you the Education Operations Budget for 2019-20 was approved ‘as presented’ and we will now be able to move forward with our planned work for 2019-20.  We offer a big “thank you” to our Aldermen for supporting education in Milford!

Milford Harbor Duck Race: Get Your Ducks Here by May 31st!  Join the 'Quack Attack' and help the United Way of Milford: One of the coolest events in Milford each year is the Milford Harbor Duck Race.  Each year, citizens are urged to ‘adopt’ one or more of the thousands of yellow rubber ducks ($5 each) with the hopes that their ‘entry’ will cross the finish line first in Milford Harbor.  Each year, thousands of ducks are dropped into Milford Harbor (right between the Milford Public Library and SBC) and is quite the spectacle – enjoyed by hundreds of families.  This year, the event will be held on Saturday, June 1st – all are welcome to enjoy this fun day.   Click here for the FLYER.

Rita’s Vouchers to Every Student in the Winning Elementary School:  To adopt your duck/s (online payment accepted), all you need to do is click HERE.  AND – when you do – make sure you include YOUR CHILD’S ELEMENTARY SCHOOL in the Promoter Box and ‘MPS’ in the second promoter box.  The elementary school that collects the most % of adoptions (as compared to school enrollment) will receive a Rita’s voucher for every student in that school!  Yum!

So don’t delay!  Reserve your ducks now.  Last day for adoptions is Friday, May 31st. Check it out.

TOMORROW: Saturday, May 18th: Dash for Danni 5K Run/Wiffleball Tourney, Foran High School. We are honored to share the news that the Dash for Danni 5K Run and the Wiffle Ball Bash events will take place tomorrow (Saturday, 5/18).  All monies raised are for a great cause – the Danni Kemp Cancer Support Fund.  As you will remember, Danni was a former star athlete at Foran High who lost her battle with cancer a few years ago. The Foran High School community conducts many fundraising events in her honor every year.  We hope to see you there.

Have a great weekend, folks.
