It’s VACATION time!!

Hello and happy Friday, friends!  As we’re sure you know – we begin our April vacation at the end of business today – and we hope you have a wonderful week of rest, fun, and adventure!  Didn’t want the day to pass, though, without providing some news and notes for you.  Here goes.

Get Your Tickets ASAP: Jay Rowe’s ‘Smooth Jazz for Scholars’ Benefit Concert, April 26th and 27th:  The date is so close now; have you purchased your tickets yet?  Don’t miss out on one of the premier events of the year in Milford.  A professional-grade jazz concert – all right here on the Parsons stage – with the proceeds dedicated to OUR Milford Public Schools music program.  See the listing in EVENTS, below, for details. 

 

‘Minds in Motion’ Registration Open; Pre-reg while you’re on vacation through April 19th:  Even though the Minds in Motion event is on April 27th, please keep in mind that the pre-registration for their many workshops ends on April 19th.  Walk-in registrations will be conducted, too, but pre-registration will help the event organizers make sure they can plan accordingly.  FLYER.

 

EVENTS

Tonight! Friday, April 12th: Alice in Wonderland, presented by Calf Pen Meadow, held @ Parsons, 6:00 p.m., tix $10. Talk about precious!  This will be an evening of great pride as the students of Calf Pen Meadow Elementary take on the story of Alice in Wonderland performed on the grand stage of Parsons.  Tickets can be purchased at the door. Hope to see you there!

 

Tuesday, April 16th: Pinwheels on the Parkette, presented by the South Central Child Advocacy Center, at the parkette in front of City Hall, 3:00 – 4:30 p.m. On Tuesday, the parkette in front of City Hall will be filled with 382 blue pinwheels – representing each child who received services from the South Central Child Advocacy Center in 2018.  A program will take place from 3:00 – 4:30 p.m. to honor the multi-disciplinary team members for their collaborative approach and to provide info about the services offered.  Stop by! Monday, April 22nd: Middle School Art Show Gallery Opening, Parsons Hallways; 5:30 p.m. The Middle School Art Gallery is ready for its opening and we believe when you see the beautiful artwork gracing our hallways, you will be amazed.  Sculpture, paintings, drawings … it’s all here.  Stop by on Monday, April 22nd (the day we get back to school) at 5:30 p.m.  The show will be up through MAY 8th.  Looking forward to seeing you!  SPRING ARTS SEASON POSTER.

 

Tuesday, April 23rd: Vaping – A Parent University Presentation, held @ Foran, 6:00 – 7:00 p.m., FREE. As part of our ongoing parent series, we are proud to present “Vaping – A Parent University Presentation.”  You only need to turn on the TV to see how prolific the vaping problem has become across the entire country.  Parents can learn all about it by joining us for this free presentation. Thursday, April 25th: Financial Aid Planning Presentation, held @ Parsons, 6:00 – 7:30 p.m., FREE. This presentation has been designed for parents of students in high school.  Join us to learn about the world of Financial Aid and Scholarships.  Erin Chiaro, (Senior Assoc. Director of Financial Aid at the University of New Haven) will bring you through the various types of aid and how to apply for them.  FLYER.

 

Friday, April 26th and Saturday, April 27th: Jay Rowe’s ‘Smooth Jazz for Scholars’ Benefit Concert, held @ Parsons Auditorium, 8:00 p.m. show time (both dates); $45 for one night/$75 for both. Now in its 17th year, Jay Rowe is poised to put on yet another fantastic show to benefit the Milford Public Schools Music Dept.  A fabulous evening of entertainment featuring a cadre of world renowned professional jazz musicians, humor, raffles, and much more.  Don’t miss it.  Tickets may be purchased online or at any of these fine Milford businesses:  Café Atlantique, The Canvas Patch, Milford Arts Center (MAC), and Arciuolo’s Shoes.  We’ll remind you as we get closer but wanted to give you the chance to get your tickets early!  LINK to FLYER.   LINK to PURCHASE TICKETS ONLINE.
