Foran’s Mane Street Mirror Recognized on News8’s New Feature: What’s RIGHT in our Schools: We were delighted to see our very own Foran High Mane Street Mirror team featured on News8’s new segment: What’s RIGHT in our Schools. Students and staff were interviewed by the TV station – as they explained what it’s like being a member of Foran’s esteemed publication. SO proud of this team! The BIG News This Week? CHROMEBOOKS – THEYYYYYRRRREE HEERRRRREE! Great news! The first Chromebooks in the 1:1 roll-out were distributed by media and IT staffers this week to excited ninth grade students at Law and Foran High Schools. Next on tap will be the middle schools as we begin the distribution process to that group in the week ahead. Please make sure you have completed the AUP (Acceptable Use Policy) and the Chromebook Sign Off (in PowerSchool) so your student can receive his/her Chromebook with no delays. Terrific Chromebook Resource Site – Complete With Pictures!
Speaking of which... in case you haven’t seen it yet, there’s a TERRIFIC collection of resources on our district website dedicated to ‘all things 1:1 Chromebooks.’ Please click HERE to review this wonderful collection of overviews, videos, and instructions. Resources include a "Chromebook Overview" video and a "Guide To Your Chromebook" document, as well as other District-created resources. This page also includes helpful links and guides from Google. Good stuff.
Incoming Kindergarteners Will Be ‘On the Scene’ Starting Next Week: Beginning next week, you might see a heightened presence of ‘little ones’ in our schools – yes, it’s that magical time of year when our incoming Kindergarteners visit, with their parents, to complete the registration process! Parents/guardians have already booked their reservations using the online appointment system – so we encourage you to give these new families a warm welcome. Sometimes a smile is all it takes. Welcome to the Milford Public Schools, friends!
Parsons Perks to Celebrate 3rd Anniversary in Business on Monday: And in a flash – the last 3 years have flown by. The student team and staff members who operate the Parsons Perks coffee cart will be celebrating here in the Parsons building on Monday (2/25), with a ceremonial cake-cutting, games, events, and interviews by local media! The schedule of events will begin at 9:30 a.m. in the hallway right outside the Auditorium. Congratulations Parsons Perks!
Monday, Feb. 25th: Board of Education Meeting (Committee of the Whole), Parsons, 7:00 p.m. The Board of Education will conduct its ‘Committee of the Whole’ meeting whereby specific, current topics can be discussed in more depth. This month’s topic features World Language and the work we are doing now to introduce it to students in Kindergarten and Gr. 1! Members of the public are always welcome to attend and learn more about this powerful topic. PACKET.
Thursday, Feb. 28th: Resilience: The Biology of Stress, A Community Conversation, held at Harborside Middle School, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. FREE! Our kids handle a lot these days. What might that stress be doing to them, physically and emotionally? How does it affect their work as students? How can we help them? What can you do at home? Learn all about it on Thursday as the district continues its Community Conversation series. This one will be held at Harborside Middle School – ALL parents in the district are welcome to attend, regardless of what grade or school your student might be in. Oh, and it’s FREE! Hope to see you there.
Friday, March 1st and Saturday, March 2nd: ‘Annie – The Musical’, presented by the Foran High Drama Club, Times/Tix info below. If you are looking for some TERRIFIC entertainment next weekend, make sure you attend Annie – The Musical at Foran High. Known for their excellent performances, the Foran High Drama Club is poised to present one of the best plays ever. You have a variety of options to go: Friday, March 1st – 7:00 p.m. Saturday, March 2nd – 2:00 p.m. matinee or 7:00 p.m. shows. Tix are $12 at the door for evening performances; $10 at the door for the matinee. Don’t Miss It! FLYER.
