The days are certainly getting busier – that’s for sure! School work, sports practices, games, picture days, PTA/O meetings – and our various work schedules. Yikes! Milford Super News Gets ‘Thumbs Up’ This Week – Earlier this week, we launched our first-ever video news venture: Milford Super News. Featuring Dr. Cutaia, this monthly news piece will follow a simple format: 3 topics in 3 minutes on the 3rd of every month. If you missed the first installment, here’s a link to the video. GED Courses, ESL, and U.S. Citizenship Courses - Now Enrolling – FREE!! Need to get your GED high school diploma? Or perhaps you would benefit by strengthening your English reading/writing/speaking skills? Or maybe you would like to pursue U.S. Citizenship? The Adult Education program offers ALL of these courses to Milford residents for FREE! Milford Public Schools OPEN on Columbus Day (10/8) – Just a reminder – while some school districts in Connecticut will be closed on Monday, the Milford Public Schools will be OPEN on Monday, October 8th – for Columbus Day.
Saturday, Oct. 6th: Foran High’s Music Dept. Mattress Sale, @ Foran-Cafeteria, 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. If you’ve been planning on purchasing a new mattress, why not go to the Foran High School Mattress Sale – take a look at the wide variety of brand new, brand-name offerings! Friday, October 5th and Saturday, October 6th: Pumpkins on the Pier, (see website for times/details), to benefit the Boys & Girls Club. A long-time favorite for families! Stop on down to the Walnut Beach Pavilion for lots of family fun and activities. Pumpkin patch, arts & crafts, face painting, music, and much, much more. Saturday, Oct. 6th: Dog & Flea Market, 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., Fowler Pavilion, Bring your furry family members (leash required) Here’s a fun activity for our furry family members (and their adults!). Monday, Oct. 8th: Board of Education monthly business meeting, Parsons, 7:00 p.m. The monthly Board of Education meeting is a great place to learn a lot about the goings-on of the district. Please join us as we engage in the following topics on Monday. Hope to see you there! Instructional Highlight: Professional Learning Report, Proposed 2019-20 Budget Priorities and Assumptions, October 1 Enrollment Report, Student Transportation Report, Quarterly Budget Report, Human Resources Report, and the Disbursement Report. On the consent agenda, there are several Security/Upgrade Requests and under New Business is the request for approval of the working agreement between the Milford Board of Education and the Milford Association of School Administrators (MASA).
