Upcoming News & Events, 7/6 and Beyond
Hello Milford Public Schools family members!
HOOO-WEEEEEE and WOW! What a terrific week we just had! Milford was shining in all its glory last week – from the throngs of folks at the Dash for Danni 5K, to the spectacular Milford’s Kick Off to Summer, to the opening of the new Splash Pad/Pickleball courts at Eisenhower Park, to the beautiful sunshine we enjoyed – especially on the 4th of July. What a great time to be a Milfordite.
We have a few events to share with you today. Please take a look and plan accordingly. And, as always, click HERE to see all of the flyers that have been included on our Upcoming Events electronic bulletin board. Here goes:
Monday, July 9: Board of Education Business Meeting, Board Meeting Room, Parsons, 7:00 p.m. The work of our Board of Education never stops and, as proof, their monthly business meeting will take place on Monday. Remember -- all are welcome to attend and learn more about these important topics. Here’s what’s on the agenda: 2017-18 A Year in Review, Residency Report, Policy Review (Alcohol/Drugs/Tobacco, Staff Development, and Return to Work from Workers’ Compensation), Human Resources Report, End-of-Year Financial Report, and the Naming of Foran High Softball Field in Honor of Danni Kemp. Hope to see you all there. MEETING PACKET.

Monday, July 23: Art Meets Science, Milford Green, 10:30 – 1:30 p.m. Gr. 6-12, PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED! Free. Thanks to a grant provided by the Milford Education Foundation, teachers Cindy Dobie and Lisa Nori will conduct a free ‘Art Meets Science’ event on the Milford Green – but SPACE IS LIMITED AND PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED!!! All participants will work with a professional environmentalist to discover what is growing around us, including a special look at the arboretum trees on the Green. Then – students will work with a professional plein air artist and paint onsite – capturing the light and colors of nature. The event is designed for kids Gr. 6-12. If you are interested, please email Cindy at firstname.lastname@example.org. She will then provide you with a link to register. Have fun!
And a Friendly Reminder about Summer Reading & Math:
And, last but not least, “How’s that Reading coming?” “How’s that Math coming?” Did you know the Milford Public Library stands ‘ready and waiting’ for you -- with thousands of book titles and games for you to enjoy? Oh – and by the way – if you haven’t dabbled in the terrific E-book collection there, give it a try. One quick electronic entry of your Library Card – and you’re in! All FREE!! Check it out (no pun intended)!
Oh ... and about the Reading and the Math? A little birdie recently recounted a story with us where the student told his mother: "NOoo ... I don't HAVE any summer reading or math this year." So -- Mom -- and everyone reading this -- just for the record: everyone has summer reading and almost everyone has summer math work. Just sayin'. Click HERE for details.
That’s it for this week, folks. Enjoy the gorgeous weekend ahead, rest, and have fun. See you next week!
