The Operations Team is a combination of several departments that work together to keep the district ‘ticking!’ This team handles the business portion of our day-to-day operation. The departments found on this team include:
Mr. James Richetelli, Jr. is the Chief Operations Officer for the district. Prior to joining the Milford Public Schools team, Mr. Richetelli served as the Mayor of Milford for 10 years. In addition to overseeing the departments listed above, Mr. Richetelli is also responsible for the following operational functions in our district:
- School safety and security
- Insurance and risk management
- Capital improvement plan
James L. Richetelli, Jr., Chief Operations Officer
Chief Operations Officer James L. Richetelli, Jr. joined the Milford Public Schools in 2011 after serving 10 years as the Mayor of Milford. He is a lifelong resident of the city.
After graduating from Fordham University in 1983, Mr. Richetelli spent the next 18 years working in a senior management position in the manufacturing industry. At the same time, his life of public service also began, serving five 2-year terms on the Board of Aldermen prior to being elected Mayor of Milford in 2001.
During his years of public service, Mr. Richetelli was a member - and held leadership roles - in both the Connecticut Conference of Municipalities (CCM) and the South Central Connecticut Regional Council of Governments. He co-chaired the CCM Statewide Task Force on Children, Youth and Families from 2006 – 08, and served as chairman of the Regional Council of Governments in 2007 – 08.
During his tenure, Milford was named to the “Top 100 Communities in America for Young People” by America’s Promise, a national organization founded by former Secretary of State Colin Powell, and was named one of the “Top 10 Places in America for Seniors to Retire” by U.S. News & World Report.
