Becoming a CitizenMr. and Mrs. Nebrot. These are your daughters papers. With this stamp I give her permission to enter the United States of America - Rifka
Introduction: Your journey is almost over! The last phase in the immigration process is being granted citizenship. Immigrants must pass another test (on US history and policies) and take an oath before a judge. Only then will they be granted the full rights and privileges of an American citizen. Task Six: In order to pass this final test, you will write a persuasive essay to the judge explaining why you would make a good citizen. You must have at least three well-developed reasons, based on what you have learned so far on your journey. Be sure to include specific examples and strong supporting details. Your essay will be written in the proper five-paragraph format. Your teacher will provide you with a graphic organizer and writing paper.
Before writing, you should visit the following sites, which include samples of letters written by actual immigrants, a review of the five-paragraph essay, and some helpful hints for using persuasive techniques.
