Mr. Zold's

Antarctica is the only continent that has no permanent human population. Most people know that it is very cold and is covered with snow and ice. But, there are quite a number of reasons for people to be there. Scientist have lots of reasons to study this place. For centuries, the world has ignored this continent, and it is the last one to be fully explored. But why would we be interested in studying this desolate place? What would make a group of people want to risk their lives exploring an unknown, dangerous area?

In 1914, a group of men were traveling to explore Antarctica. Their leader was Ernest Shackleton. His mission was to lead the first expedition across the continent of Antarctica. What began as an adventure, evolved into an incredible story of courage and survival in one of the world.
