Mayflower Graphing Lesson

March 14, 2005

In October, you created a graph of the length and weight of Columbus's ships. This month you will use the link below to create a graph on your own. Click here to get a list of all the passengers on the Mayflower. You might want to see a copy of the original list of passengers.  You won't be able to read it easily, but it will be fun to see.

It is your job to divide the list into 4 categories: men, women, sons, and daughters.  Once you have tallied(counted) all of the passengers, you will use the information to create a graph. The graph should compare the number of men, women etc. were on board. If you have forgotten how to create a graph, you can go back to the Columbus link and read up on how to create your graph.

Resource:  Tally Sheet

Big Question: Looking at the list you will find that most of the who came brought their families.  If you lived during this time would you have wanted to travel on the Mayflower with your family?  Why or why not?
