INTRODUCTION

OLE!

Your group is about to plan an exciting trip to a Spanish speaking city. You have $3000 to spend for one week on your vacation. You may choose from any city in Spain, Mexico, Guatemala, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Honduras, Costa Rica, Panama, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Uruguay, Paraguay, Argentina or Chile. Your task is to produce a comprehensive itinerary for the trip. The work of planning your vacation will be divided among the group and each is responsible for planning a part of the trip, such as flights, hotels, places to visit and what to eat. Make sure you include prices in US Dollars as well as in Euros! Remember to stay within your budget!


THE TASK

Your task is to use various resources with the purpose of planning your vacation. This information will be presented in the form of a Power Point presentation.

Roles:

 

Be sure to find maps, photos of the airlines, hotels, places of interest and restaurants/foods to share with the other members of your group. Then, as a group, you will present your itinerary to the class


THE PROCESS

4. Make sure you answer these questions in your Power Point presentation:

  1. What are the dates and times of your flight(s)?
  2. What airline(s) will you use?
  3. Is it a direct flight or are there any stopovers?
  4. What meals do you get on the flight?
  1. What types of accommodations are available?b.
  2. What amenities do the each offer?c.
  3. How do the prices of the different types of accommodation compare?d.
  4. Where are they located in relation to the places of interest that you’ll be visiting?
  5. If they are not close, how will you get there and how much will it cost you? Bus, subway, taxi, etc.

Interviews:

Talk to people who have been to that place and get ideas and information, what they liked most, anything they didn’t like, things you can’t find in a book or online.

Combine all your work into your presentation to tell the class all about your trip. Be sure to

include maps, prices, pictures of airlines, hotels, places to be visited, foods and restaurants. Bring in any samples of things from your chosen city such as postcards, foods, jewelry, and souvenirs to share with the class in your oral presentation.


EVALUATION

  1. Speech: Voice projection, intonation and pronunciation
  2. Content: Comprehension, accuracy, practicality
  3. Professionalism: Eye contact, spoken, not read, flow and work as a team
  4. Readability: Lettering, coloring
  5. Clarity: Organization

    Each student will be evaluated as an individual as well as his/her contribution to the group presentation.


CONCLUSION

Travelling to foreign countries is a fun way to learn about the language, culture and people of other places. After completing this WebQuest, you hopefully have a better appreciation for other cultures, and realize that with very careful planning you can get the most out of your vacation.
