Introduction
Pack your bags and
get ready to travel and eat! We are going to visually travel to South America,
Cental America, the Caribbean and Spain in order to find some great food and
some interesting sites to see! Many of us do not speak two languages, much less
know much about the cultures of other countries. Learning about them maybe very
useful one day.

Task
Here is the catch
to this fun and exciting assignment. You and a partner only have $100 dollars
for the day. With that limited amount of money and time, you will have to purchase
three meals, desayuno, almuerzo, y la cena. In addition, you will see the sites
of your appropriate city or country.
Remember that you
must exhange the $100 dollars to the currency rate of your country.

Process
- Choose
a partner with whom you would like to take a trip.
- Each
pair will choose a different
Spanish speaking country. In that country, you must choose a specific city
or town to travel to for the day.
- Each team will have
to change American dollars using the currency conversion rate of that specific
country. The website for the currency conversion is located at the bottom
of the page. Here you will be able to convert the amount spent on each meal.
- Each team is traveling
in their specific country for the day, so you must do your homework before
hand. For example, make an itinerary, so you do not waste your time wandering
around.
- Next, you will need
to find three different restaurants to eat all three meals. Remember that
these are foods that you would actually like to eat!
- In between the three meals, you
are going to do some sightseeing of your city or town before your next meal.
You will have to get pictures of at least 4-5 sites and try to convince the
class in Spanish why we should visit your country.
- After your big day traveling,
you will have to present your excursion. Along with your oral presentation,
you will need to have a posterboard which will have the following: the 4-5
labeled pictures of your sites. Use the worksheet
to record your restaurants' names and addresses, meals, and prices. Your oral
presentation will consist of what you did while sightseeing as well as a description
of the foods eaten during your day.
- The last day you will use the
evaluation sheet to rank all the presentations.
Afterwards, as a class we will tally up the results to find the top 5 places
to visit.

Evaluation
You will be graded on your
oral presentation and the posterboard using the following rubrics.
