
Diversity Unit

Essential Question: What effect does prejudice, which includes bias, discrimination, stereotyping, and racism, have upon our society and how has it changed over time? How can we make it different for the future? Create the mural on the wall. This mural will demonstrate how Harborside embraces diverse cultures and should symbolize the concepts the class has been discussing throughout the unit.
| 1) Use inspiration to measure students' prior knowledge of discrimination, racism, stereotypes, and biases. |
| 2) Define the following terms, using a dictionary. Once each student has completed this task, he/she must create a picture to represent the four major terms that we will be focusing on throughout the unit. |
