'Twas
November, and the candidates
Did deal and debate in the race:
All confident were the Republicans,
But the worried democrats overcame.
"Beware the President, my son!
The lies make fight, the wars in sight!
Beware the boring Chaney, and shun
The reckless Powell!"
He took his blue pen in hand:
Long time the ballot he sought--
So paid he the voting fee,
And stood awhile in thought.
And, as in relentless thought he stood,
The President, with thoughts untamed,
Came walking through the angry crowd,
And smiled as he came!
One, two! One, two! And through and through
The blue pen went squeaky-scratch!
He left it marked, and with it in hand
He went happily back.
"And hast thou rejected the President?
Come to my arm, my intelligent boy!
O peaceful day! Kerry! Hurray!"
He chuckled in his joy.
