Exotic Excursions: For Those Looking For A Safe Trip.

Exotic Excursions; the Solution for the Shipwreck Problem

We Go The Extra Mile...Or Life Boat !

The following cruise line is purely fictitious. I made it because I was researching shipwrecks for my enrichment project. So, please, do not try to contact us at Exotic Excursions because there is no staff there.

Many ships have not succeeded in their voyages. Although, when you are on board one of the Exotic Excursions ships, you are promised a safe trip.

We go to extreme measures to ensure your safety. By doing this, we make sure that there are enough life boats and life jackets. We know that no ship is unsinkable, but we come close. Our cruise ships have several "compartments" that if water gets into, they can handle it. Out of 20 " compartments", 13 can become water-logged before we have to evacuate the ship.

Our Staff

To ensure your safety, all of our staff must go through an excruciating training course. They are all fluent in at least three languages so all passengers can feel at home. In our cruise lines, we have 12 different luxury ships. On all ships we have a ten to two staff ratio.

If a passenger has a medical emergency in the night, one of our staff members can help. Down the line, every three rooms is a staff room. so a staff member is sure to hear if something is wrong. At the Exotic Excursions headquarters, we have several helicopters so if we need to get a passenger to a hospital quickly, we send out for a helicopter.

What's On the Ship?

On each ship in the Exotic Excursions, we have four restaurants, 5 cafes, one gymnasium and a swimming pool. The swimming pool is connected to 2 Jacuzzis. One restaurant is Italian, one is seafood and one is a grill. In addition, there is one vegetarian restaurant. The cafes are located all around the ship. There are two cafes by the pool, one has hamburgers and hot dogs and one is a little more refined. This one has clams on the half shell, shrimp cocktail, quiche, and other delicacies. Their is one cafe near where all the rooms are. This cafe just supplies some snacks. What you can do is bring different snacks and beverages into your room for each room has a mini-fridge/freezer. The other two cafes are just scattered among different areas on the ship. For families that have children, there are several different clubs. There is the Tot's Club, ages 1-3, the Explorer's Club, ages 4-7, the Big-Kid's Club, ages 8-11 and last the Teen Club, ages 12- 15. We also have a boutique. At the boutique we have everything from toothbrushes to ceramic mugs. We also have a nice ball gown selection and a tailor to, well, tailor them for you. For all you intellectual people, there is also a library. Your passport is your library card.

Security

In order to maintain our reputation for having the best security of all cruise lines, we go to extreme measures to ensure the safety of your possessions. We are aware that many robberies happen on cruise ships. In each room, there is a safe to put your wallet, passport, keys and other items in. You can choose your own combination to the safe as well. If you lose your room card (unlike keys, you can just swipe your card in the door) to get a new one, you must give your name, address, date of birth and then the question of your choice you chose before you made your reservation on the ship. The question you chose can be "What is your pet's name?", "What is your hometown?" or "Where did you go to school as a child?". Like I said, when you are booking your stay, you can choose one of these questions to answer mainly for security reasons. While you are out and about the ship, there are security cameras carefully hidden among various locations on the ship.

Disease Containment

To make sure that there are no epidemics on the ship, each room has doors that keep germs out. We also have health specialists that can create remedies to cure your sickness or infection in less time than it would with a OTC drug. We have traveling nurses to deliver medications, food and other necessities while you are sick on the ship. We know that you might be missing activities that you might have signed up for if and when you get sick so we always have a make-up activity to do. ATTENTION: all parents: we know better than anyone that when your child gets sick that they want to be with you and you want to be with them. But, if under circumstances where you don't have to be with your child, you can leave them in the children ward. This is for sick children so that they can still have fun even though they are sick.

If you are sick before your designated ship leaves, you are guaranteed a room on the next ship. We know that normally you can't control when you get sick so you shouldn't be penalized for getting sick.

Evacuation Drills

There is a first time for every thing. There is also a first time for your fist cruise. Unlike other cruise lines, we do evacuation drills for your first 3 days, not just one on your first day. There are evacuation routines for getting out of your room, off the ship and and away from the restaurants and pools. Although we have top-notch security, terrorist attacks can still happen. That's why we want to be prepared. So, what we do is give drills for fires, flood and now attacks.

Sad Ships

Like I said, many ships have not succeeded in their voyages. One of the most famous, if not the ,most, is the Titanic. Its problem was an ice berg. The Titanic was a British liner weighing 46,329 pounds. It sunk on April 14, 1912. Another ship is the Terror, a 326 pound British steamer. It sunk on April 22, 1848. It crashed into ice in the Arctic. The Empress of Ireland was a British liner. On May, 30, 1914, this 14,191 pound ship had a collision in the St. Lawrence River. On July 15, 1917, the Kristianiafjord, a Norwegian liner struck near Cape Race, NF. The ship was 10,669 pounds.
