First Aid and Safety Booklet

Now that you have completed the first aid and safety unit, you will be creating your own safety booklet.  You will divide into cooperative groupings and create sections according to what you have learned throughout this unit.  Let's get started!




You will need to include:

1. Cover Page:              Picture, Title,
2. Table of Contents:     Name of Each Section and page numbers
                                 Name of Author and Illustrator of each section
 

3. Introduction:           Purpose of the booklet

4. Emergency Number Page:

5. Decision Making Steps:  See page 257 in Teen Health Bk.


Follow the steps below to make your booklets:
To make each page in the booklet you need to:
1. Open the template check title and change for each page
2. Each title is a new template
3. Save changes
4. Type in Rules or Do's and Don'ts according to each title

Booklet Sections:                

Cover Page for: Section 1: Safety at Home  Title and include a picture
Safety at Home page--Fire safety: 1.  include pictures in each block, ex. cooking, matches candles, etc. 
2.  on bottom of the page include 4 rules for each topic: Fire Safety Rules: Do's and Don't's 
3. four  rules for What to Do in Case of a Fire.
Strangers at your Door: 1.  include a picture in top block
2.  under this picture include: Do's and Dont's: at least 4
Bottom of the page include:  Phone Safety: a picture, under the picture include: Do's and Dont's
Electrical Safety: 1. include a few pictures ex. frayed wires etc.
2.   -on bottom of the pictures : Do's and Don'ts: include  at least 4 rules
Section 2:  Safety Away
At School: 1.include a few pictures at top of page ex: bullying, gun possession, etc.
 2. -bottom of page include: How to be Safe in School: at least 4 rules
Section 3:
Safety Outdoors: 1.  include in each block pictures on that title:  a.  Street: ex. crosswalk          b.Bikes and Skates:  ex. skateboards
2.  bottom of that page in each block include:
a.  Street Safety Rules:  at least 6 rules    b.  Bike& Skating Safety Rules: 5 rules
Water Safety: 1.  include a few pictures on top of the page:
        ex:  swimming, storms, etc.
 2. -bottom of page: include: Do's and Don'ts: at least 5 rules
Weather Emergencies: 1.  at top of the page include pictures of flood, hurricanes,tornadoes, blizzards.
2. -bottom of page include: Do's and Don'ts: ex. where to go, what
     to do etc.  at least 4 rules.
Section 4:
Basic First Aid: 1. at top of page include at least 4  pictures to go along with your "what to do's" 
2. bottom of page:  What to Do:  include at least 4 rules *pg. 273 in Health Bk.
Rescue Breathing: 1. include pictures at top of page
2. bottom of page: To Do's: at least 4 rules. *pg.274
Bleeding: 1.  include pictures of what to do at top of page.
2.- underneath :What to Do in Case: at least 3 rules.
*see pg. 275 
Choking: 1.  include pictures and at least 3 rules on: What to Do's: *pg.275+ 276 
Poisoning: 1.  include some pictures at top of page, ex: crossbones- under pictures:  Do's and Don'ts: pg.276
Burns: 1.  include pictures and under them include:   Do's and Don'ts:  *pg.277
