Board of Finance Public Hearing:  Feb. 8, 2012, City Hall, 7:00 p.m.
Board of Education Presentation to the BOF: Feb. 15, 2012, Parsons Conf. Rm. B, 6:30 p.m.

We are pleased to present the BOE Proposed 2012-13 Budget document for your review.  This document represents our request to the city for educational funding in the 2012-13 fiscal year.

According to City Charter, the BOE Proposed Budget is packaged together with the Mayor's Proposed Budget and is forwarded to the Board of Finance no later than Feb. 1st of each year.

The Board of Finance will conduct a Public Hearing on Feb. 8th whereby residents of Milford may share their thoughts on either the city or the education budgets with the members of the finance board.  The Public Hearing will begin at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall.

In the weeks that follow, the BOF will meet with representatives from every city department and agency in order to ask more detailed questions about the budget requests.  The Board of Education is scheduled to present their information to the finance board on Feb. 15, beginning at 6:30 p.m. in Conference Room B (in the Parsons Building).  All are welcome.

Once the Board of Finance has completed their review, they will prepare the Board of Finance Recommended Budget.  This document is then forwarded to the Board of Aldermen for their review.

From there, the process continues -- with the Board of Aldermen conducting a Public Hearing session, as well as meeting with every dept. and agency in the city,  (these dates will be publicized once they are set). After their final deliberations, the Board of Aldermen will make any changes needed and then vote on a final operating budget for the 2012-13 fiscal year. This becomes known as the Board of Aldermen Adopted Budget or, more familiarly, the official City Budget for the coming year.

Milford's fiscal year begins on July 1st and concludes the following June 30th.
