A message from our PTA President
Fundraising… just the thought of the word sends chills down many a parent’s spine. More often that not, it becomes a chore for us the parents to oversee. Making sure your child asks people, going around to co-workers and family members. Finding the form, remembering when all the stuff is due. So you may ask, why do we do it? Have you ever thought were does all the money go? Who benefits from this?
The short answer is our children benefit. Our community benefits. We may actually want one of the items and use it.
Our budget for the year is based on how much we can make on fundraisers and other free programs we participate in. With a student population of over 450 children, every time we go to ShopRite, or Stop and Shop, or cut out the box tops, that money comes back to our school. Think of the impact we could have if everyone participates!
Just a few programs the PTA helps with are teacher appreciation week, field trips, 8th grade dinner dance, drama club, high school scholarships and local community organizations.
So when you see that flyer in your child’s backpack or on the East Shore website, take a moment and consider all the positive that can come out of it.
