Bus transportation is provided by the district for elementary school students who live outside the district boundaries that are set. Routes, stops, and times are determined annually and published in local papers and on the district's website.
Bus transportation is limited to the students who live on the streets indicated in the Bus Route Information. In addition, students must be dropped off at their specific stop each day. This procedure is in place to maintain the safety of all children.
The phone number for Durham Bus is 203-783-9763.
Milford Public Schools does not allow students to go home on a bus other than their assigned bus for reasons such as play dates, etc. While we realize that there are occasions when a situation arises, we do not allow students take other buses home unless it is a true emergency. In the interest of safety and security, the bus driver needs to know if there is a student on the bus that is not a regular rider.
If there is an emergency situation, please follow the procedure below:
Parent/Guardian needs to send a note to the school to request their child take a different bus for that day only.
The bus company will need to have complete information regarding the change (for instance, the full name of student, bus #, etc).
Many times we have spare drivers who are not familiar with the students. It’s most important that this type of information be relayed to the bus company to avert any confusion. In the case of a kindergarten student - if the driver does not have information regarding a different person at the stop to get the child off the bus, or does not recognize the person at the stop, the child will NOT be dropped off and will be brought back to school.
The Principal needs to sign the note, then fax it to Durham
NO NOTES MAY BE HANDED TO DRIVERS – ALL INFORMATION MUST BE FAXED TO DURHAM DIRECTLY FROM THE SCHOOL OFFICE.
In the interest of safety and security for all students, we ask that all communications of this type be made from the school.
