Welcome to Kindergarten!
I have been teaching Kindergarten since 1999, and I really enjoy this age group.
I just finished my 6th year degree in Oral Traditions from the Graduate Institute in Bethany, Connecticut. I received my Master's in Reading and Literacy from Lesley University in Massachusetts 2005, and my Bachelor's in English and Elementary Education from Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven in 1994.
I have been married since 2001, and my husband and I have a daughter Sophia who is entering first grade this year. We also have a boy kitten, Max. We love to entertain friends and family at home, and also play games together as a family. We like to play UNO, Old Maid, and War.
Some of my favorites:
Favorite color: All the colors--colors are for everyone!
Favorite food: Any food that is made for me! :)
Favorite activities: Reading, baking, gardening, singing, and creating new poems for children to read! I also love card and word games.
Favorite books to read: Adult books - mysteries; children's books--anything funny, rhyming, biographical, or with a positive message for children
Favorite animals: Cats and dogs
Favorite sports team: Pittsburgh Steelers
Favorite song: Too many to mention! I LOVE to use music in my teaching for any concept, so I have ALOT of music! However, I enjoy teaching my students patriotic songs. There is nothing sweeter than seeing a litttle girl or boy singing a patriotic song!
Favorite dessert: Cookies and milk
Favorite candy: Reese's Peanut Butter Cups
Favorite thing about a new school year: New children and new school supplies!
Kindergarten is an exiciting year! I am looking forward to all of the learning and fun that we will have together this year!
