Welcome to our classroom website.
We are in room 13 at Orchard HillsSchool. Class is in session from 8:50-3:35. On early dismissal days we dismiss at 1:35. Please let me know if you will be transporting your child instead of using bus transportation.
Students are considered tardy after 8:50. Please stop in the main office to get a tardy slip from the school secretary.
Children will eat lunch in school. They may bring a cold lunch or purchase hot lunch. Menus are available on the district website. You may deposit money into a lunch account for use in the future. This works very well.
Please send two snacks daily. The children enjoy a mid-morning snack and a short afternoon snack time. Be sure to let me know if your child has any food allergies.
There is an important district-wide policy you need to know about. Schools have a peanut free snack policy. Children may have peanut products during lunch since children with allergies will sit at a peanut free table. Peanut products will not be allowed in the classrooms for snack time.
Foods may no longer be brought in for birthdays or holiday celebrations. This is a district-wide policy in response to the increasing number of students with serious food allergies. We will celebrate in other ways without serving food.
Please let me know if you plan to pick up your child from school. This will help us stay organized at dismissal.
I will not release your child to anyone other than his/her parent(s)/guardians unless you have them listed on the emergency card. I will ask to see their driver's license to verify who they are if I have not met them prior to this meeting. You may list as many people as you would like on the emergency card. If more cards are needed just let me know. If you send a note to tell me someone will be picking up your child I must check to make sure they are listed on the emergency card. If they are not listed on the card, I am not allowed to release your child to them. This is a district-wide policy.
Please send an extra set of clothes to kept at school. This change of clothes comes in handy if there is a bathroom accident, a food or drink spill or an art mishap. Don't forget to include socks and underwear. Please label the bag with your child's name.
Please do not allow your child to bring toys to school. I have plenty of fun and interesting toys to share at the appropriate times.
Birthdays are important to children. We try to make the day extra special for your child. Send a reminder note prior to the special day and we can think of ways to celebrate without serving food.
Thank you for your help and support. I look forward to working with your child and his/her family. Please let me know if you have questions or concerns.
