I am delighted to be starting my third year teaching music at JFK school! Before coming to JFK I taught K-5 music at Meadowside School in Milford. I live in Milford with my husband Patrick and my cat Lucy. I have a wonderful daughter, Caitlin, who lives and works in New York city.
I am a graduate of The Boston Conservatory of music where I was a piano major. I earned certification in Orff Schulwerk from the University of Toronto in Canada and a Master of Science degree in Holistic Thinking from the Graduate Institute.
I love working with elementary children and sharing my enthusiasm for the arts with them.
In my spare time I enjoy reading, going on walks, and listening to all kinds of music.
I believe the arts play a vital role in the development of every child. The study of the arts produces better-educated human beings; passes on our heritage to the next generation; encourages the importance of beauty in everyday life; promotes a sense of community and shared cultural experiences; helps to create informed individuals who can make sound judgments with regard to their personal music choices and recognize creative originality in themselves and others.
The arts make vivid the fact that neither words in their literal form nor numbers exhaust what we can know. The arts teach children that problems can have more than one solution and that questions can have more than one answer.
